      Great News Natural Recallers!!!

Well in a recent thread called I Hate Dream Journals i made a personal discovery that if you are a natural dream recaller then Dream Journals are not as necessary as they seem! i mean im sorry if this is a waste of your time but if you are a natural Dream Recaller and you have many many struggles with writing down your dreams each morning just because you feel you have to THEN SCREW IT AND JUST QUIT WRITING EVERYTHING DOWN!! i have discovered that to have an LD all it takes if faith (lots and lots of faith). I mean don't take wrong about the Dream Journals they are great and entertaining to read if you have a good couple pages full but if you dont struggle with remembering what happened and you can hold on to those memories then just jot down a couple key words about your dream that will spark the memory and just write down important dream signs. In conclusion all you need really is faith and RCs! believe in your self and hold your nose! you can do it! anyone can do it because i just did!

Err, there is no point in having a lucid dream if you can't remember it. Sure, if someone recalls many many dreams very vividly every night without a dream journal, then I guess they don't need one. But there is always room for improvement. Not to mention, besides just remembering, dream journals improve the quality of both regular and lucid dreams.

I'm a natural and I second this. Unless you have a photographic memory you need something to help you remember.

One of my large regrets in life is not being able to peer into my lucid past and see what my dreams were. I also know that in the future, if I am unable to see back to what i'm like right now .. It will be even more painful because I could have changed it. Long term gain dude.

I made a topic like this along, long time ago, because I'm sort of a natural recaller I got pretty much the same responces as here, and yes I can recall the dreams I had days ago, thats what it means to be a natural recaller because I contantly dwell on my dreams and thats how I do it, and I'm so used to it.

And yes with out a dj makes it 10 times easier, and I still record lucids however or at least decent ones, and I pretty much get the crappiest of non-lucids so I guess that explains it

Its strange the way our memory works. Generally we need only a reminder of how a dream went to remember the whole thing. A dot-journal helps even the best recallers unless you're like that guy who memorized 52 decks of cards.

I have what you might call "natural recall," yet I'm always surprised when reading back through my DJ at the dreams I have forgotten over time - and particularly the lucid ones.

Everyone is a "natural recaller." For example, what you're saying akin to saying that some people are "natural sleepers" and people who can't naturally sleep need medication to go to sleep. Everyone can sleep, meds just help people do it. Just as everyone can recall their dreams, but making a dream journal makes it WAY easier.

I no wat u mean some people have better Dream recall then others and theres no point in them using a DJ. As i have put in a preveus thread i am a really good dream recaller but i only ever use DJ as somthing to look back on if somthing is going wrong in my dreams

Yeah like im not saying that recall is a gift cuz anyone can recall dreams just like anyone can LD, its just easier for some people to do so.
Look im not a natural LDer at all its just that all im trying to say is that for those people who can recall with no effort at all have an advantage at not having to work on a DJ every morning, im not saying u dont need it at all. all im saying is that its not the biggest requirement for a natural recaller.

Look, I don't think you understand. The point in a dream-journal, is to write down stuff in decent detail, so that you can get to know your dreams completely. You may think you know your dreams now, but with a little practice, you'll notice that certain things persist in your dreams, something, that you maybe didn't notice before. You can take this knowledge to your advantage, and become a very good DILDer.

Also, you'll enjoy reading your dream-journal, when it's in detail, and you can always improve your recall, to remember more details. It will make your dreams more vivid, you'll know patterns better and you'll remember so much more.

yeah i know what you're saying, what im saying is that they are great for literature and disecting dreams but they're not the biggest requirement for everyone ya know? i mean i have one and i write in it, maybe not all the time but i write down things that are key to my dreams like people and possible signs but it is not necessary to me writing out the whole story of my dreams all the time ya know? i mean even the smallest sentence from my DJ brings back the whole dream

Well okay then. It's ultimately your choice, but I still think keeping a DJ in high detail is important.
