      A different meditation guide

I was reading in a book about a creative sweet point that you could bring your waking consciousness too. A point of clarity, energy and bliss you can sit in and use for artistic creative energy, problem solving, lateral thinking and consciousness exploring.

They pinpointed the dominant frequency of this point to be that of the electromagnetic field of the earth and that which most living things on earth emit.

The whole of the brain works on electrical signals, and the frequency of these signals can characterise what mental state we are in. The states can be loosely catagorised as
Beta (anxious, linier thinking, working state, very
      'switched on')
high alpha (not so switched on, more relaxed, in control)
low alpha (day dreamy, lateral thinking, introspective)
theta (REM dreaming, long-term memory, deep meditation, lucid dreaming)
delta (very little brain activity, deep sleep)

The frequency of the electomagnetic field of the earth and this "sweet spot" apparently falls into the Low Alpha catagory, just above the Theta.

It came to me one night as i was meditating quite unsucessfully that i could use this as a guide. I relaxed and began to watch my thoughts as they came to the surface. Memories of what i had done that day, stresses about work. I watched the thoughts come up, but i didn't explore them and they gently went away.

As i relaxed more deeply, my thoughts began to change, memories of the day were replaced with events that happened weeks ago, and months and years. Apparently linked in some way i suppose, the deeper i relaxed it seemed more passionate the moments were, the moments i felt more alive.

I watched until i started to remember my dream from the night before (which i had previously forgotten), mixed with very old memories from my childhood. It occurred to me then that i had passed over into the Theta range. With that thought i became conscious of my breath, to keep awareness of my body and to stop myself from falling asleep, or into a deeper Theta band.

What i experienced then was a feeling i have experience only a handful of times previously, ecstacy. My body felt so alive, like i could feel every part of it and it felt so amazing, i could even feel a pulsing feeling in my hands, and my whole body was very warm. My mind was clear, it was still swaying gently between memories of dreams and awareness of my surroundings but as it swayed i just gently moved it back to my breath and that spot.

I used that point to resolve some problems i had in my life. I would bring out something into my awareness, a problem with work etc. Almost like asking a question, and with the clarity of thought i had, an answer just welled up. And it was like i was worrying about nothing at all.

I felt an increadible surge of creativity, i felt like writing music, painting, watching colourful cartoons and playful things.

I could go on and on about how awesome it was but the most exciting thing about it for me was the fact that i had GUIDED myself there. By watching my thoughts i was able to realise what dominant frequency my brain was emitting and was able to gently relax it and guide it to the right place.

I would love someone else to try this and get some feedback, i have already used it another 3 times successfully.

So if you try it let me know, and if you have any questions, or don't understand this at all, just post. YAY! thanks for tuning in.

That sounds like a very interesting experience, almost as if you attained a higher level of enlightenment or consciousness. I would recommend you do this every night, my friend. I am going to attempt this. My mind is one that is so random and always in constant motion that I can't be hypnotized or fall asleep in a few minutes. I'll focus on this as much as I can. Keep us updated about your experiences.

I want to hypnotize you, now you typed that.

All you have to do is follow directions.
      Everyone can be hypnotized.

      With regards to the thread,
      That sounds awesome,
From that state you can Astral Project with minimal effort.
in fact from low alpha, is deep enough.

Deep meditation as such, can be an amazing experience.
Peace can be found among the restless activity in our world's.

Ive only gotten to alpha (high) whilst conscious so far without falling asleep, but i haven't been trying to stay conscious so much.

Good info, im going to try harder tonight.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

This sounds like the place that is often referred to as "Flow." Musicians often call it "The Zone."

It is that creative, relaxed but energized state of mind when time just seems to become irrelevant and we lose all self-consciousness about whatever it is we are doing.

      Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for all the feedback! Upon reviewing my info, I found out this "zone" is at a frequency of 7.8Hz, its called the Schumann resonance and I'm only just beginning to understand this amazing phenomenon.

This actually falls in the Theta range, the range of REM sleep and deep meditation, not the Low Alpha (my mistake). The high range of Theta just before 8Hz where it crosses into the Low Alpha. I think this is extreamly exciting for us lucid dreamers as theoretically we can reach this point perhaps even more effectively in our dreams.

So the goal for my next lucid dream is to focus on my body, my breathing, to try and bring my mind up to this point instead of slipping into deeper Delta.

Another curious thought that crossed my mind. It's a well known technique to rub your hands together in a lucid dream in order to increase vividness. Could this be because creating awareness of the body is bringing the mind closer to this point?

The hand-rubbing thing for me seems to bring me DOWN "into" the dream more when I'm on the edge of waking up. I wouldn't be surprised to find out it has something to do with adjusting brain wave frequency.

Are you using a monitor of some sort to verify where you are at, or just looking at physical signs?

this sounds very interesting....i have a theory on this topic....

      i believe that the way to find this "zone" is not through lucid dreaming while asleep but instead while awake, let me explain;

you know that state you are in when you day dream, where you have no perception of reality or that you are in a day dream, and you seem to go into a long stare. and you only realised that you had been day dreaming after you 'awake' from theat trance state....

if you look at this state then you would see the similarities with normal dreams, no perceptions of reality or that you are dreaming until you wake up, and a long (or short) state of trance (sleep)....

what im getting at here is that to achieve this 'zone' all that needs to be done is to turn lucid while day dreaming......

i think i may have discovered a new type of lucid dreaming....lucid day dreaming!!!

I'm just going entirely on physical signs, i would absolutely love to have some kind of monitor to see what my dominant EEG frequencies actually are. I'm definately in agreeance with you that this can go a long way to explain dream vividness, how some lucid dreams are very vivid and switched on and why some keep fading in and out of black with little structure. Definately tell me about any experiences you have i would love to hear
