      Lucid Dreaming and psychosis

I'm wondering if anybody here have heard if Lucid Dreaming could higher the risk of getting a psychosis (since I've recently been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder), especially when the habit of doing RCs might make you a little unsecure about what is real.
      What do you think?

      Thanks in advance

Boy - this is going to be a tough one to get an authoritative answer for. Nobody here is really qualified to say one way or the other.

Since you've been diagnosed, you really should discuss it with your practitioner. S/he knows you best and has a deep understanding of your condition. I'll bet it will lead to some interesting discussion, if nothing else!

If you do discuss it with your doctor, please consider letting us know what s/he thinks!

I think that doing RCs shouldn't ever confuse you about reality.. because their purpose is to tell you what is real and what isn't.

I agree with pj though about speaking with a professional if you think you might be having some of these issues!

I don't think it would have any effect except to make a psychotic person question reality more, which probably wouldn't do much but would not hurt. Psychosis is caused by chemical imbalance, not a wrong way of thinking. The wrong way of thinking is a result, not a cause.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

True. It would seem that you could perhaps benefit from having the habit of doing RCs if you look at it rational, but I guess rational thinking don't always apply to these things. I will discuss it with my doctor and share his opinion with you.
I agree with your point Universal Mind, but still that's not a definitive answer.
Thanks for your input all. I'll be back on this topic as soon as I've talked with my doctor.

How do you then explain psychotherapy curing a psychosis by enabling the patient gradually change his image about himself and the world?
