Has anyone here successfully reduced their sleep without making major changes to sleeping patterns? For the past week I've been sleeping 6 and a half hours at night and attempting (mostly unsuccessfully) to get a half-hour siesta in the afternoon. I'm not adverse to going polyphasic - actually I would like to take up the everyman schedule - only it's too difficult for me to fall asleep at will.

A week in I'm starting to feel spaced-out, almost like I'm drunk, and coffee is starting to make me feel nauseous. I'm tempted to give up but I figure if I persist my body should get used to it. They can prise that extra hour from my cold, dead, sleep-deprived hands!

What about binaural beats - anyone used them for sleep reduction?
