      So...what happened here?

So I was sitting on the couch watching TV and I randomly got tired so I turned everything off and closed my eyes. I went to sleep and started dreaming. I was in the backyard, and I knew right from the start I was dreaming. I saw my sister crying and my mom yelling at her on the porch. My sister went up to her, and she grabbed her arm roughly and swung her around. She has a temper and a tendency to slap us around. I didn't think anything of it. I didn't even get uneasy. All of the sudden she kind of picked my sister up and threw her down on the porch (which is cement) and she started bleeding. A lot. I got really upset.

Most of the time if I'm having a nightmare during a nap and I'm lucid I can pull myself out of it by rolling over. It takes TON of effort and I wake up really fatigued. But I can usually do it. I did it this time, but then I wondered what would have happened if I tried to stay in that half awake, half asleep moment where I pull out of a nightmare but my body's still asleep. I turned back over and closed my eyes again.

This time I didn't realize I was asleep until I heard sounds. There were a LOT of them. I'm telling you, they were everywhere. Lol. I can't even describe it, it was like a billion things were happening at once. I heard a man say "voices" distinctly in my head. I also felt a lot of vibrations. I've heard this has something to do with astral projection? I felt vibrations moving through my whole body, and my hands hurt, an ache like when a part of your body is really tired. I tried to stick it out even though I was scared, but all of the sudden I felt the distinct feeling that someone was watching me, so I rolled over and woke myself up. The sounds and vibrations ended, and I was alone in my living room again.

So...freaky! Haha. I want to know what this means, and if I'm any closer to all the cool sleep things I want to do like lucid dreaming and astral projection.

Although I've never experienced this myself, from what you're saying it sounds a lot like sleep paralysis! If you had stayed in that state you might have eventually entered a Lucid Dream. Look for the WILD tutorial.
