I went for a Reiki I attunement, and read Diane Stein's book _The Essential Reiki_, which is my favorite book, better than the one I was given with the attunement. It was well worth it, as I do it almost daily, especially in bed before I go to sleep. I'm surprised they have CD's though, as most Reiki practitioners believe in a hands-on attunement. Or at least a distance attunement for some who do it on the internet.

I would love to be a healer of animals.. now all I can do is just run to the vet!
Well, if you and the pet both are open psychically, they *can* communicate with you. I have found it happens best when it's something I can actually fix though. Like when Shaman had a fungus infection, I dreamed that I saw all this black shadowy stuff on his groin area (he'd just been neutered at the time), and saw myself washing it with a pink washcloth, and then heard the word "fungus." I checked him, no black stuff, but knowing my dreams, figured it was coming, so read my herbal healing book, and found Tea Tree Oil is antifungal, went to the health food store, and bought tea tree oil soap, figuring that was good on a washcloth, and also a bottle of tea tree essential oil to swab on after washing. The next day, the black stuff arrived, and I was armed, and it cleared up within 24 hours without a more expensive visit to the vet. I'd also either get visions or just know when he had a tick, and exactly where it was, despite all that thick husky fur.
When he got really sick with esophageal cancer, I had a different kind of dream, one that I only recognized in hindsight, in which I was putting him in the car in the parking lot at my vets office, and thought he had been bitten badly by another dog, as his stomach was ripped open. I thought I had to take him to another vet, which seemed odd, since we had just come out of the vet's office, and I was worried about being able to find it.
Some months (six or seven, I think) after this dream, Shaman got really sick, and first the vet discovered this horrible hard black ball in his stomach, and surgically removed it, and I realized this connected back to my dream at that point. He did not get better after the surgery, but in fact kept getting worse, and our vet sent us to a specialist veterinarian in R.I. where they diagnosed the esophageal cancer, which was awful! I had to have him put down. I couldn't have him suffering anymore. But, well, I know from another series of dreams, posted here somewhere, that he was reincarnated as Lily, my Pomeranian, and came back to me, same spirit, new body, much smaller!
I'm very psychically connected to her as well. Many healers who work with animals are also able to read them psychically. It's something that might open up for you if you're interested in doing that!
