      Can't keep eyes shut

When I close my eyes I seem to keep looking at all the little shapes and patterns that appear. I just can't keep my eyes still. If I relax my eyes, they will start to open slightly and I will see light in the corner of my eyes which will wake me up.

How can I relax my eyes when they are shut? Its very disturbing and is causing trouble with the WILD method.

Try to focus on something else. Forget your eyes even exist. Concentrate on another part of your body relaxing, or even your breathing. Once you get a little ways into a WILD, you should not be thinking about your body at all.

I used to have the same problem sometimes, usually when I had a busy day and was stressed out. You can ignore it, focus your energy on something else. I worked on my stress issue, though.
Come on! What if Martin Luther King said: "I kinda have a dream... nah, I don't wanna talk about it."

Try a sleep mask. There are some really comfy ones out there.

In that case I will try to focus on something else and if that doesn't work maybe a sleep mask. My door was a crack open which was letting light in so maybe I should close everything up as tight as I can.

Would a pitch black room do a similar job?
And welcome! I notice this is your first post! I joined two days a go and I have been posting excitedly.

Ahhhhh, well yes I just made this account. But I had another account for almost a year but I wanted to change my name and the only way to do that is to make a new account. But cheers! Pitch black rooms will work, but as you know even in a pitch black room after a while your eyes adjust and you can make out most of the things in your room. It has to be PITCHHHHHHHHH black for me anyways. I can't sleep with a drop of light, tis why I use a mask even though it usually ends up on the floor by the morning but I only use it the first hour Im in bed until Im asleep

So I focused on my breathing and it helped a little, but it still seem to open my eyes occasionally which is screwing everything up. I'll keep trying though.
