Task of the Month Suggestions Pool


Do you have great ideas and suggestions for the Lucid Task of the Month? We have decided to implement this new thread for you to make as many suggestions as you desire for the upcoming monthly lucid tasks. This post (the OP) will be updated constantly as new suggestions are given. People who have completed the TOTM / TOTY (who will gain access to the Lucid Task Club) will be voting on the suggestions for the following month, but every person can suggest as many tasks as they like.

Your DV user name will be shown at the end of these suggestions and in the TOTM thread as always.

In order to bring the best out of each oneironaut's skill and motivation, it is important to follow a few easy guidelines when making suggestions:

Basic Task of the Month: A Basic task of the month will require the oneironaut to have a lucid dream and recall an easy task to do. The Basic task will require little to no dream control. Please, make sure that when suggesting the basic task, it is something that can be done in waking life. Example: Drive a car. Ask a Dream Character what his/her name is. Play an instrument. Eat something.

Advanced Task of the Month: In addition to the above, this task will require some dream control and does not necessarily need to be doable in waking life. Examples: Drive into oncoming traffic at 200 mph and don't crash. Jump off a cliff and hit the ground, head first. Fly over a huge town. Visit the depths of the ocean. Use telekinesis. Mind control a dream character.

Bonus Task of the Month: For this task, strong dream control will be required. This task will earn two pairs of wings, and you need to earn them! Advanced dream skills will be ideal, to make it a good challenge. Examples: Crash the moon into Planet Earth. Morph into a giant and bring mayhem. Visit an alien planet and conquer it. Create a meteorite shower. Be the main character of a video game.


These are just a few ideas, but the sky is the limit! (Especially for the Bonus task.) Don't worry when you make suggestions. If your suggestion is too hard for the tier you propose, it will just be placed in a higher tier (eg. if you suggest for a basic task to become Superman, it will be added as an advanced task instead.)

By popular demand, common and uncommon holidays are usually suggested and voted to be tasks of the month. Tweaking these holidays into dream tasks can be a lot of fun. You can find a list of the most odd holidays around the globe here: 2015 Bizarre, Wacky and Unique Holidays.
Tasks do not need to be holiday themed; you are welcome to come up with your very own ideas and suggestions.

Either/or. Suggestions that don't make it next month still get considered for future tasks.

Remember guys, you can make multiple suggestions, no need to just make one.

And if you suggestions are not picked up, they will be available for voting the following months.

I'm not going to categorize these because I feel like they could all be put in different places.

Some of these are probably pretty bad :P just something I came up with in a couple of minutes.

Advanced Task: Help Lucy pull off one of her stunts/schemes.

Advanced Task: Attend a live taping of the I Love Lucy show. Toggle between black and white and color for bonus points.

Suggested Task: Depilate a famous person DC and describe the reactions

Basic Task: Look at a movie poster or DVD case. Report back with the title of a dream movie.

Basic Task: Ask a DC what they had for breakfast.

Advanced Task: Spring is coming soon. Change the weather/climate from a cold winter to a warm spring/summer.

This is starting to look nice, but I want to see lots and lots of suggestions guys.

After doing a project on robotic exoskeletons, I had a good idea:

Advanced - Put on a robotic suit (like Iron Man) and take it for a spin. Describe what it feels like to be in it.

Guess I might as well add a few from my personal list:

Basic - Get a DC to help you write a poem/song. Bonus if you can perform/record it after waking.
Advanced - Clone yourself, and then do something to/with your clone. Bonus if you can get both perspectives at the same time.

Basic tasks:

Ride the Hogwarts Express and try to find Harry.
Look into the Mirror of Erised.

Advanced:
When you're at Hogwarts, find one and look into a Pensive and relive a past memory.

Find an Invisability Cloak and create havock.

Bonus Task: Become Voldemort or a Dementor and torture your underlings.

Advanced: Meet Wilson (the volleyball) from Cast Away and bring him to life. Describe your interactions.

-Find a 5-star restaurant and eat the food there.
-Pee on a DC.
-Meet yourself and ask them what they have been wanting to tell you.

-Visit an advanced civilization and describe some of their fancy technology.
-Bring a mountain to life and have a nice chat with it.

Bonus:
-Pull your still-beating heart from your chest and give it to someone.
-Shrink to smurf size and hang out with some smurfs in their smurf village.
-Go for a ride on Falkor the luckdragon.

Basic:
-Sing a song. Points if you can act out the lyrics as you sing.
-Climb a tree
-Take your pet on an adventure

I asked a DC what she thought the next TOTM should be (in this dream) and she said, "Get in touch with your emotions".

I turn to Mary and ask, "What should the TOTM the month be, for March?" I had to think a bit to remember the month lol. Let me chip in just in case:
Basic task suggestion:
Ask a DC where you can find god, report his response.
Kiss a DC of the same gender. (I guess this one can be hard for all skill levels, haha)
Stare into a mirror for as long as you can, report what happened.

Advanced task suggestions:
Make a drawning of something, then make it pop out of the paper and become alive.

Other idea:
Maybe it's good idea to let people tag on to others' idea. For instance if I say: "slap a dc in his face and then blame him for slapping you instead", someone else could use my idea when it's christmas and suggest to slap an elf rather than just any dc. Then we would both be credited. I think that would be a good idea!

Absolutely, this thread is open-ended! :)
Each month, members with wings will vote on tasks from the suggestions pool, so even if your ideas aren't chosen now, they might be in a future month!

Basis suggestion: Inception - Spinning top totem test. Make it spin forever (look away and then back to see it is still spinning) or as an advanced task: spin it on the ceiling or wall.

Edit: just thought that it might be interesting to add RC or dream stabilisation tasks that can be done as soon as someone becomes lucid to strengthen their lucidity. But I guess most tasks would help in that aspect anyway. Just an idea.

You are totally right !!! I dont know if it makes it better, that you know that you are this house. Maybe houses are parts of your subC, and in this case the house is the ONE and the inside complexity is the subC. Big: Up-Middle-Down. Smaller: The rooms. More smaller: Objects. Who or what is living on the different floors ? One day i will try it. The basement is the best part.

I think this would be interesting just because it is very likely the dream characters will tell you really funny made-up stuff about how to play the instrument, especially if the instrument is something you don't play in real life.



2. Go on a date with your biggest crush.....then friendzone him/her before the date ends. With so much emotions in lucids, how are you gonna go about that??? ;_____;


3. Summon/pull out a thick wad of tangled earphones from your pocket. Try to untangle it. No cheating or using superpowers or dream magic!

4. Become, and live the life of your least-favorite movie villain for a day. Or for the length of the lucid. Brood in their lair or look in front of a mirror in their guise. Go out into the city as them and see how people treat you.

Yuss!

I keep my earbuds in my hoodie pocket all the time, so I bet I could at least pull off the summoning part of it. And they're always tangled, so that will be manageable too. Disentangling them will be interesting though, since I can barely do it properly irl. I usually just leave them tangled up and manage to get a bud in each ear and screw the onlookers.

Basic task suggestion: use an iPod/iPad/whatever to put on a song to soundtrack your LD, compare the fidelity to the IWL recording.

Travel to Olympus and anger a god/goddess. Describe what happens. (+awesome points for epic battle)

I keep getting chased lately, how about "closing a door on someone"? not actually closing the door on them physically but just right in front of their faces. whether or not your being chased, just close it on someone and see what happens, or dont and keep running. the choice is yours!

That's a coool idea Sensei. It makes me think that if I were doing this task, and I imagined an "imaginary friend," would it manifest itself as a regular DC? I think my subC would be like "wait WHAT are we doing?" Trip him up for once :lol:

I was just thinking about senses in dreams and listing which ones were most prominent for me (#1: vision, #2: "feel", #3: sound) and I thought about how I don't normally experience taste unless I'm eating or drinking something. I also realized I've never smelled anything in a dream! This shocked me. So, this suggestion:

Basic - Smell an object which has smell in waking life (candle, soap, flower, food, etc.)

Then a few nights ago my husband inspired me to this one:

Advanced/Bonus - Enlarge a DC or shrink yourself and fly into the pupil of the DC's eye. OR, you can go to a mirror and fly into your OWN eye!

Basic Task: Pick a fight with a DC....and lose.

Inspired by fight club it's also fun to think about for me because I've been hoodwinked, I've been robbed, I've been shot even murdered by dream characters (lucid and non) but I've never lost a fight with one. It would be unique on my end idk about you guys.

Enter a big building, when you enter get lost inside it and make the entrance/exit disappear. Expect something mysterious to be inside each room. Also, you are not allowed to use powers or other type of control, even if something scary chases you.

Ok I'll try to redeem myself since I can't figure out how to delete my previous suggestion.

Basic i- A mysterious animal (or creature) was attacking people and livestock in rural Nebraska. Experts have lost track of it and don't know what it is. Can you find it and tell us what it is? You may kill or capture but as long as you can at least just spot it and describe it you're fine. Help us! Before more people get hurt!

Basic ii- Lure a DC into a different location and rob them of money or at least 1 possession. Bonus if you can spend or trade the items before waking up :evil:


Advanced i- You and a dream animal of your choice (must be at least the size of a raccoon) must attack a evil dream character.

Advanced ii- The government needs your help! They have discovered intelligent life on another planet and are concerned they may be a threat. Can you use your lucid powers to observe these aliens and let us know if you think they may be a threat?


Bonus task- Go on a date with a celebrity crush of your choice then at some point you have to ditch them....you ungrateful jerk you! Who was it and what happened?

When i thought about the depilation task i was actually thinking about a man full of body hair, imagine !

And my smear test suggestion is heavily conditioned by my profession. I am specializing in primary care medicine and smear tests are part of my job and i actually find them challenging as you need skills to relax the woman and then find the cervix and then make the bimanual palpation - all if she agrees with every procedure. They are hugely important for woman's health and although unconfortable it is not really an agressive thing if done with care. Btw, i hope all women the best with their health and dont forget about your regular screenings as uncomfortable as they maybe.

I actually did feel somewhat uncomfortable about the pap smear task, just because it already takes a lot of convincing for some people to feel like the procedure is non-sexual (eg. my friends were shocked when I told them that I have mine done by a male doctor.) The task kinda makes it sound like you're saying, "Well, now that I've been inside of you, let me take you on a date." :P

my totm suggestion was actually a joke about that vague belief or suspition that some women have, which only makes my task a little bit more difficult. Trust me it is not pleasant to perform smear tests, i would be happy if no patient required that. There are also many perverts of course, and although it is sad, we can also joke about that. In fact, joking is a very good coping mechanism

Edit: most doctors dont like to perform smear tests, gynecologic examinations. You find all kinds of unpleasant odors and is also somewhat embarrasing for a doctor, specially if the patient is embarrased, but that's something we learn to do with professionalism, and according to the unique personality of the patient.

That said, i think my totm suggestion was perhaps a subconscious attempt to deal in a more relaxed and funny way with something that every complete doctor should know how to do - a smear test. I apologize if it seemed rude or misogyny. I wouldnt really waste a lucid doing that, i have enough in waking life lol

Meta TOTM: In a LD, gather a future TOTM set (advanced: at least 3 tasks, basic: any one task) from DCs (doesn't have to be just from one DC). Who wouldn't want to do a TOTM task thought up by a DC? :) Suggest this/these task(s) to this thread.

edit: another possibility: ask a DC for a task to do and immediately *do it*.

I actually did this a little in a lucid a few months ago, but in a suburban environment.

advanced: crumple up the entire scene in front of you with your hands like it's just a drawing on a piece of paper: describe where you are it once you do this.

bonus: then pick up one of the many crumpled "scenes" from the floor, open it up, and enter the picture as the new scene.

Cross the atlantic in an air baloon

A dc game me a basic task in a lucid dream last night that I completed on the spot but it could make an interesting basic task

basic task: Go through the physical act of changing clothes with out using dream control.
basic task: Try to juggle 3 objects in the air.

I have an idea for a bonus ToTM:
Find an advanced laboratory and invent the most futuristic thing you can think of.

Destroy the world. Like, really. Blow it up.

You know when you argue with someone and only after some time you think about a better thing you could have said?

Basic task: go back in time when you were arguing with someone and give them this better answer. Describe how the conversation ended.

Basic: Board an airplane/ferry/train/submarine etc. Look out of the window during your travels and describe the changing scenery.
Basic: Go to a concert/music store and listen to some music. Describe the experience as best you can.

Basic: Get a haircut from a DC barber. Describe what it looks like.

Bonus task: Take a glass cup. Will it to have the consistency of honey and let it ooze around your hand and arm. With it still on you, make it like glass again. Try and move your arm, then make it like water so it falls off. Then boil the glass away and have it form into globules in the air in front of you. Turn them into a different glass cup.

Basic:
• Treat your body as though it were made of putty: can you tie or contort any part of yourself into a knot?
• Ask a DC, "Whose dream is this?"

Advanced:
• Take on the role of a superhero (or villain), describe your powers, and thwart (or commit) a crime.
• Transform yourself into a planet.

Bonus:
• Literally grow "eyes in the back of your head": attempt to expand your visual field to include the area behind you simultaneously with that in front.

A similar suggestion I've been planning for a while: while driving a car (plane, any vehicle), punch the "hyperdrive button" on the dashboard, describe the experience of flying through hyperspace, after some time turn it off, and describe where it takes you (explore the alien planet, etc.)

I love this. Ordinarily I would just tell a DC that I'm dreaming, or that he's a DC. They usually just freak out or explode or both. But whispering in their ear what you said seems like it would yield even more interesting results :-?

I know of a few people that will "love" this (note the "") hahaha. But pretty cool suggestion. I had to make already Death to Harvest my soul for a Task of the Month (I had to witness Death harvesting a soul, but I was about to wake up so I asked it to harvest my own) So here we have another obscure yet cool task :D

While this is a good statement is not entirely true. Check following images (and of course, ignore the chute devices, they are not allowed on neither suggestions)

In addition, blobularwindmill's task requires you to crash on the ground while Aristeaus' doesn't.

Also, to plummet to earth, you can fly head first at high speed (and this actually required to do, as the fun part of it is to crash at high speed) and Aristeaus' is just a free fall, no powers.

some days ago in a lucid nightmare i had the agonizing experience of having my body move on its own, it felt from the bed on its own and started moving in the direction of the door contorting itself in a weird manner, it was akin to sleep paralysis so this is a bonus task have a evil spirit to possess your body and see what it does with it

preferably use your house at night as a dream scenario specially your bedroom to see how it interacts with your house and where it goes

if you have difficulty finding an evil sprint just focus on that eerier feeling of somebody watching you, it doest has to be a ghost it can be a shadow people or an nightmare creature anything goes as long as it looks like it can take your body

when you find it don't resist don try to run don't panic you will eventually feel like you whole body has been paralyzed (just like in sleep paralysis) just let it take over

after that you must make thread to report your experience

Advanced: Swim to the bottom of the sea and back.

Since we have a lot of suggestions and maybe you have already an idea what to vote, I am adding to the following spoiler the NEW ideas suggested this month, in case you change your opinion:

This made me think of a similar idea:

Meet your future descendant(s) - how many generations ahead is up to you, but they can't have been born yet.

Travel to the center of the Earth.

Travel to the deepest point in the ocean.

Go to space and see the sun close up (without being burned to a crisp of course).

Ask a dream character what they dream about.

Commit suicide, become a ghost then go around scaring people
