      Slow, Laggy Iphone 3GS

      Hey All
      Just recently Bought a new iphone off ebay. It is a 3GS with 16GB memory and it came already jail broken. The problem is that the phone is slow and laggy, sometimes even unresponsive. I believe it is currently running on software version 4.1.

      Is there anyway I can speed it up and make it less laggy? Thanks.

      How much space do you have on your hard drive? If it's nearly full, you probably need to clear it out.
      If you have winterboard....toggle summer board either to on or off, and respring. if that doesn't work.....

      Delete all unnecessary apps photos and music.....
      Go to cydia and delete all unnecessary apps and music
      worst case scenario.....unjailbreak it....and upgrade to 5.1.1 and get the new jailbreak for that.

      Also, google is your best friend for unjailbreaking, going to 5.1.1 and rejailbreaking.

      disclaimer: I have an iphone 4 with a 5.0.1 jailbreak on it. I'm not sure if different phones have different effects, or even if the 3gs can be upgraded to 5.1.1

      The iPhone is practically empty as I bought if off Ebay. I haven't touched Cydia at all and I only have about three Apps on the phone. (just Itunes Games)

      When I clicked the restore button on iTunes it wanted to download the updated software first. But in the box it came In I got a disclaimer saying that the iPhone has been Jail broken and Do not update the software Because the phone will be blocked. So would restoring the phone cause it to lock up on me?

      If your phone is unlocked and jailbroken? or Just jailbroken?

      If it's jail broken, go to cydia and on the main page
      click "upgrading and jailbreaking help"
      scroll down to unlockers

      You may have to unjailbreak through redsnow instead of itunes.

      sorry for the double but....It's going to automatically give you 6.0, and currently there isn't an untethered jailbreak for it. If I were you, I would wait until there is one, otherwise anytime you need to turn your phone on, you're going to have to have it plugged into your comp.

      Great advise light of heaven, although some of us don't have a spare $500 lying around.

      As for the phone itself I can't tell If I am getting used to it or it is actually becoming less buggy, even though I haven't done anything to it :/ Even the apps seem to be running a bit smoother
