Ok, so im using Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (please don't comment on that, it wasn't my choice) , and I can't get my Web-Cam to work with it. I must've installed it half a dozen times already, and still nothing.

Whats weird is, it has a microphone built into it, and the microphone works fine, but the video portion of the webcam doesn't.

When I plug it in and it tries to install the Driver Software, it gets this error:

http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/8420/us...aproblemsv1.png

I screen shotted it so that I wouldn't mess up explaining anything about it.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem and make the web-cam install right on Windows Vista, please let me know.

goto the manufacturers website and download the drivers (if there are specific vista drivers, go for them)

I tried that, and installed the drivers, but I couldn't find any specifically for Windows Vista.

Actually I think thats the same one that I downloaded before. I have a folder on my desktop called 98067.zip already, and tried installing it. It installed fine, but whenever I plug in my webcam, I get a 'searching for new hardware' message, and it tries to install a driver (which apperantly is already installed), and fails. When I tell it not to search or install the hardware because i've done it manually, the webcam just doesn't work.

are you rebooting after you install the drivers?

*edit*

- uninstall any drivers you have for the cam
- unplug the webcam
- reboot
- install the drivers above (98067.zip)
- reboot
- plug in the cam

I haven't tried restarting the computer yet... I've been busy doing things that are stopping me from restarting it. I'll try that tonight though.

if the drivers install a proprietary video codec for the video portion of the webcam, it may not work until you restart

Ok, So I unplugged my Webcam, uninstalled everything about it, restarted the computer, re-installed everything (I even have the disc, and I used that), restarted my computer (yet again), and plugged it in, and it still doesn't work.

Im thinking that for some reason, the video portion just isn't compatible with Windows Vista. I don't suppose anyone else has this webcam, and could... I dunno, write a patch for it and force it to load with Vista?

That's not nearly as easy as you make it sound.

Now, when you install the drivers, I'm not sure if Vista has the same driver setup as XP (I didn't use Vista for long, didn't like it much, and it didn't like my computer much), but you should be given a "Have disk" option when installing the webcam. Select this, and then there should be an option of something along the lines of "Don't search, let me choose the driver to install". Click this, then navigate to wherever you extracted the .zip to, and find the driver file inside. It should be a "*.inf" file.

Sigh... I just tried it, and still nothing. Its annoying because, the computer doesn't even detect the webcam. Its acting as if its not even plugged in. I've tried about 4 different USB ports, and 3 different programs to see if maybe it would work on one of them by some chance, and still nothing. I mainly want it for MSN. I've tried reading through all these Trouble shooting guides, and none of them help me

Just find a box that says "Vista ready". That's the easiest way
