      Many questions. HELP > Dell?

Being a small business owner I am a member of the NFIB. An organization that helps in numerous ways.

      Here is my dilemma.
I don't have a clue what I need how much and what kind.

The NFIB offers discounts for Dell computers. The computer I have now is..is .well WAY outdated. It was a cheapo power spec. I have had it form the onset of my business in 1999.
I run the Quick book Pro program and I am also going to update that as well.

      These are the Deals?

It's all Greek to me. Upgrades, OptiPlex -Vista or XP

Anyone who has some suggestions I would really appreciate it.
      Thanks - Howie

Are you talking about the Dell Latitude D630? I think that's a pretty decent laptop.

Dell is a decent computer company. The customer support is better than what it once was.

If I was getting a laptop from Dell, I think I would get the Dell Inspiron 1420. It is a well-balanced machine.

I have heard from three different sources now that Dell sucks.
One , who is a software engineer said that they are the hot dogs of computers. All the pieces parts from left over crap are put together.

I will check out the 1420

Dell isn't bad if you want something quick, and see a configuration that works for you. They have fairly good service and quick delivery. The only reason to not order from them is if you find a specific company you'd rather deal with, or if you have very specific needs for a machine that they can't fulfill. They do let you customize their configurations, but they still make a lot of assumptions about what you want in your machine that you may not have a need for.

Well, the biggest problem you will find is that the many of the other major PC makers use pretty much the same parts. I think most people are prejudice against Dell because of what their customer service once was. Definitely check out the Inspiron 1420.

Thanks you two for the feedback.
To be running a simple small business program it does not sound like I should have any problems with a Dell. So I think I may take advantage of these offers.

Dell seems to be on the cheap end, too. One of their drawbacks is their lack of good looks unlike apple or vio (spelling?), but that's probably not a very high priority for you. I've had a dell laptop (D600) for 3 years now and it's had some harddrive problems which were a pain in the ass, but my version is obviously outdated. A couple of days ago I spent hours talking to their customer service and was very pleased with it. They seem desperate to make you like them. :p

My university mostly uses dell, too. Personally I'd like to get something different once I'm able to buy a new laptop.

Honestly, that is a good thing. That means they will do almost anything for you if you have trouble with your PC. Anyways, I'll stick with my suggestion of the 1420.

Yeah, it does make you wonder, but, it's worth it. Like I said earlier, dell's not as pretty, which I think is the main reason why it sells less to the general public than other computers do.
