      Stupid cable...

I don't know just how huge MDM (millennium digital media) is, but damn, does it suck sometimes. If anyone has that provider (or some other cable provider), and it's working well, can you do me a favour? Can you ping your default gateway and let me know what the values are like? I'm getting some major packet loss (like 17%), and an average of 15-40ms ping times, which probably don't make sense, even without the packet loss.

Whenever I get packet loss, I call up my provider and shout at them. Works most of the time.
So no point in guessing. Tech support sit there sipping coffee just for this sort of thing, heh.

Edit: And you can PM me your IP or any domain I could ping within your network. Could very well be some outer node, beyond your gateway. I had such a problem before. A higher-standing provider was responsible for the loss.

well, when I tracert, it goes to the gateway right from my IP. It's definitely between my modem and the gateway... If someone in the neighbourhood were sucking up all the bandwidth, I'd still be able to not lose packets to the gateway, right? I'd think loss there would happen beyond it.
