iPod on Last Legs/ Seeking Alternative...

      Hey techy guys,

Now my iPod has been giving me constant problems and issues since i bought the £230 piece of crap thats now £180 and theres a new model with more space. After all the problems i've had with this iPod i don't think i'll be buying my mp3's from Apple ever again.

My iPod has recently been having this issue in which i plug it in to my computer and then the iPod itself will crash so i have to restart it. I usually unplug the thing before restarting but this time i left it plugged in. When it was recognised by iTunes it said there was a new software update for the iPod so i clicked install. I waited and then it rebooted the iPod and then it said "iPod in service mode and not responding" or something like that. And it forced me to restore, but before i did it i tried to access my files that i had on there, but no, it wouldn't let me. I had freakin' work on that iPod and now its gone and unreplacable, i'm so frustrated at this now. It works now but i can't see it lasting for much longer so i'm seeking an alternative.

Can you guys suggest an alternative, maybe something better than an iPod. I know i got a new mp3 a few months back but it was only 8gb, my collection is about 25-40gb so i need the room to put it all on.

Any suggestions, my price range is £100-£200 if i do decide on getting a new mp3.

I own a Creative Zen M. It has 30 gig. My son has the same model with 60gig. I love mine, it supports most of the music and video formats. Creative doesn't try to lock you into a special format like Apple or Microsoft.

Ah, i think i know the one your talking about, alot of my friends have them, but i was unsure, i will check this one out. It is quite bulgy is it not, i am looking for something maybe slightly slimmer but that would do if i found no other alternative. Thanks for the recommendation though, i'm looking on amazon now I appreciate it!

I found a creative zen on the street. It's really small though. I'm wondering if I should bother getting a usb cable for it.

Take your iPod to an Apple store, if they can't fix it they're replace it if it's under warranty. Zunes are the alternative to iPod, but as far as I know no player other than iPod can read an AAC or H.264 encoding.
