I need help with ubuntu

I know I've been asking questions a lot on here,and I'm sorry if I'm annoying people ,but once again, I need help. You see, I'm having trouble getting the ubuntu ISO image to a disk, and I was wondering what I did wrong. The software I'm currently using is infarecorder, and I can't figure out why It won't write to the disk when I use it. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bu...1be66c6553babf is the link I used to help me, but I did the told steps, and It wouldn't work. I wanted to install Linux on some of my old compaqs, one for personal/family use, and one to give to my niece. I looked at the program and for some reason it says "unsupported media" could that mean something? Can anyone help, because what I'm wanting to do with ubuntu is very important to me?
