Downgrade! Down with Vista! |
Hello again, I was wondering if it would be a good Idea to downgrade from Vista to XP on my laptop, or even just run both. Anyone have a view on this |

Unlikely, it's probably more likely that Vista will break your laptop than the XP install. I've installed XP on hundreds of computers and nothing's ever gone wrong. |
Why don't you just use a dual-boot to have both? |
Why Downgrade anyway? I've had Vista on my Computer for around 8+ Months now, never had a problem with it. |
Don't uninstall Vista. |
They're right, Vista is the best thing Microsoft have ever done. |
the Business editions of Vista can be downgraded for free |

Downgrading? It's called upgrading. XP was fine, and they really didn't have to do that to fight against leopard. I guess, maybe it wasn't HORRIBLE that they did, but, i'm fine withought it. |

If your laptop is super new, check if all your hardware is supported in XP. |
If your hardware supports Vista, then it will support XP. That's assuming that there is no 64-bit specific hardware on it, but I don't think any PCs have that. |
Most games run better on XP and require much lower requirements. Don't most games say right on the box their minimum specs for each OS. Vista's always twice the RAM. |
It's not a good idea to down grade as this can cause al kinds of problems with things like the bios and drivers. Duel run bother operating systems if you have to. |

Then you don't know QEMU. |
Never saw QEMU, I thought vmware and xen were apps you had to pay for? |
Oh yeah, how could I leave out VirtualBox. I even recommended it in another thread. VMware isn't free (libre) software, and Xen is a different kind of virtualizer, but QEMU (with kqemu) and VirtualBox have worked great for me. In fact, kqemu would never have been GPLed if it weren't for VirtualBox's timely entrance into the scene of virtualization last year, |
