      Help with midi in vista

Hey has anyone here experienced MIDI problems using vista, because It sounds really bad and it lags when I use TGF2. My point is: does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm not sure what TGF2 is.

Switch your default midi player to Quicktime.

TGF2 stands for The games Factory 2, I forgot to mention that I have problems with other games too.

Vista doesn't support a lot of those old games. How old is it?

Doom 2 using a source engine called ZDoom, I looked on Microsoft's official website and they said that people experience this problem a lot, but I think I figured it out though.

Uh.. Ubuntu really doesn't support games.

Does Vista still have that run as... option? run it as a windows 95 program.

if by that, you mean Canonical won't support Windows games, then yes - they're a Linux vendor

but the vast majority of windows stuff will run fine under Wine

Use Wine's AppDB (application database) to check whether there are any specific problems with things

      Here's TGF2's AppDB
      http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...rsion&iId=7048

As with a lot of obscure windows stuff, the AppDB entry is quite old - using wine 0.9.30 (we're up to 0.9.58, I think now)

Yes, Vista has various compatibility modes (I think most are software emulation though, so speed may be a problem?)

If he's running games too old for Vista, they will probably run just fine through software emulation. Midis haven't been used in ten years.
