tell me about windows movie maker

ahh i'm so confused! I dont know very much about the computer beyond simple internet websites, and I'm having a problem with windows movie maker. I have the video camera plugged in correctly and I have it turned on, but when I click "capture video" it says that the device was not detectable. I think it has something to do with needing a video card, but I have no idea what that is. Anyone know what to do? I need to get this to work for an assignment. darn teachers

If you plugged the camera in while your PC was already running, you might need to reboot. Sometimes it won't detect the new device while it's already on. Other than that, I don't really think I could help ya. I've never used a live device with Movie Maker. =/

This should probably be in the tech forum, you'll get more detailed help in there.

Make sure you have all the software that came with you camera installed. Sometimes if that software is missing you can have compatibility issues with programs. Also, check the internal settings on your camera. There may be a USB-mode option. You would want this option as opposed to a streaming option.

Hope this helps, I've had problems with Movie Maker in the past as well.

I would guess its a compatibility issue with your camera. Look up your camera type, and see if there is any driver software for your camera that you can install onto your computer.

      Try to find this out:

Make and Model of your Camera
OS Of your computer (Vista or XP)

Then someone might be able to look up and see if there is any software that you'd need to install if your unsure of how to do it.
