      Piclens for Firefox

Anyone tried this? An awesome add-on for firefox - allows you to view images in a weird gallery style:

guess I didn't look into it after the giant thing that said "Piclens is not supported on MacOSX."

I love this add-on. It's the only one I use besides Add Block Plus.

      as far as I know,
this piece of software is going through a major re-write at the moment
(only supports FireFox 2, being rewritten for FF3)

so hopefully, they'll use a more platform neutral approach in the rewrite
it would make sense, as then they could hit mobile devices, net-connected games consoles, etc.

and if they don't, I can see someone else doing it
(this is prime Google territory - I'm surprised they haven't already tried something like this)

I'd also enjoy something like this "outside" the browser
this would be great on home media centres

I've seen FF3 on campus a little bit, my professor was talking about it. It's using native widgets and other native functions on all platforms so it will behave better and uniformly with the rest of the programs.

His tests show that right now it's nearly as fast as Safari and he expects that the next beta will outperform it.

I'd also suspect that they are working on releases for certain mobile platforms (mainly iPhone and Palm) I doubt there will be alternative web browsers for game consoles at least until the next generation.

Something like this would be good for websites generally which have picture galleries - I would love to use something like this on the sites I do as a gallery - looks good IMO

I'm not too keen on 3rd parties being able to hook into stuff outside the browser (full screen accelerated graphics, etc.)
      for (I think) obvious reasons

I think this should stay very much at the user end
either a browser plugin or seperate user application

but definitely not any form of pushable technology, like how flash banners are used (uugg!!)

Sweet, the 64-bit version works well on my Linux laptop! And facebook already has built-in support (you can see the little icon appearing in the corner of images as you hover over them within an album).
