      Hacking Vista?

Does anyone know how to hack Windows Vista Home Premium?
I need to get by the annoying restrictions that my father has put on.
I got a computer for Christmas last year and even though its MY computer, i am a guest and have limited privelages. If anyone could help me please, im desperate.

      if it's your computer
just wipe it, and reload vista - giving yourself an unrestricted account

The only reason he won't let me have an admin account is because he doesn't trust me. He is VERY controlling and wants to make sure he knows exactly what I'm doing and exactly what I've downloaded. Everytime I want something downloaded he has to put a password in. I know he isn't trying to stop me from downloading something harmful because when he gives me his password he doesn't bother to check what it is. He is just CONTROLLING.

By the way Seis, I'm sorry for blowing up on you in the chat room but im extremely agitated.

      Eh it's okay.

The only three ways I know hot to retrieve acocunt information is:

      Keylogger
Keylogger through Script Kiddie(sp?) program (Sub-7, Netbus)
      Randomly generator password/username

I'm sure if you had enough time and the programming expertise you could break open some files and get what you needed, but that's probably not what you need, and I couldn't tell you how to anyway.

This was mentioned only a little while ago in another thread, but Ophcrack is probably what you're after

      http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/down...hp?type=livecd

Linux LiveCD designed to retrieve Windows login passwords

Download, and burn it to a CD
then restart your machine and it should boot into the LiveCD

but cracking the admin password won't do any favours on the trust side of things

hosing the machine, blaming it on Windows and reloading is going to be easier.....

It's not so much a trust issue really...it's control.

you could also just install a second OS
Dad has full control over Vista
You have full control over another OS

Uhm, it's not hard if it's anything like Windows XP. Once with XP, I forgot my password when giving my old computer to my brother. I found you can just go into the computer into what I believe is safe mode and on an administrator account and then delete his password.

That's it for XP, dunno if it works for vista, but probably it does. It's very easy to do.

      resetting passwords is indeed easy

the trick, is leaving no evidence that the system's been compromised
(different admin password is a pretty big giveaway)

      *edit*

Ah, I didn't realize he didn't want it to be that obvious. I figured since it was his computer his dad didn't go on it. In that case, the much less technical way you can do it is set up a "hidden" video camera pointing at your keyboard with good resolution and record his fingers as he types and play it back and determine the password that way. Just ask him to help you download something to go on the admin account or whatever. It might take a couple of tries but with enough video takes you should be able to fit together the password.

You could always just... check over his shoulder when he enters his password... maybe get a keylogger going (if you can, with your limited account hehe).

Hey maybe you can rename a key logger app to something inocuous sounding (like some winamp plugin) and then next time he enters his password, bam, you have it.

But that's evil. You didn't hear that from me hehe.

As Ynot said, ophcrack is probably your best second best bet. You can download the LiveCD, which is a disk image (.ISO) that you can burn into a bootable Linux CD. Just insert it into your computer, boot up, it will ask if you want to crack the admin password (or maybe all user account passwords--I don't remember which), say yes, and wait a few minutes.

But your best bet would be to speak to your dad and explain as nicely as you can that you feel he is too controlling and that his control freakish tendencies make it impractical for you to use your computer. This might seem hard, but it's certainly a healthier solution. It might be easier if you ask him point black if he trusts you. If he says "yes" then talk to him about your computer situation. Either he'll understand or he won't. But since he will have already admitted that he trusts you, it will be difficult for him to justify his need to control you. If he says that he doesn't trust you in the first place, you'll need to have a much longer talk with him...

I like the camera idea, maybe the spot were your comp is makes it difficult to record so try to be creative maybe a laundry basket on a near by table with the camera hidden in it?

      Good advice.

I'm sure your dad would respect you more if you confronted him about the issue rather than try to go around his back. Perhaps instead of requiring his approval and having him look over your shoulder, set up some guidelines that you'll follow. Promise not to delete the history and you'll let him know what you've downloaded.

      Are you downloading songs? games?
