      Laptop mother board.

So I may have to get a new motherboard for my laptop. Would this be an opportunity to also upgrade my graphics in the process?

I will have a professional install it once it is ordered. I've been stuck with a crappy graphics card and an uber everything else for so long...I think it was because my graphics are integrated into the mother board or something. If I get a new motherboard is it likely I can upgrade my graphics?

      Jeez,
how much is this new motherboard setting you back (as opposed to just getting a new laptop)

a laptop is just a motherboard in a plastic case with a screen & 2 hinges
(Ie. the motherboard is the expensive bit)

Buy a new laptop instead, you wont have to pay a technician to deal with it and you get a warranty.

Actually the technician said he would install it for free, he has done repairs on the laptop before.

A new motherboard could not possibly cost anywhere near as much as a new laptop.

I'm not sure what all the motherboard includes though.
