The new office uses Visual C++, not VB? Did you upgrade from an older version of Office? The old ones used VB as their scripting language, not C++, you might just have to install Visual C++. |
|
The program suddenly terminates and doesn't recover any of the work like it normally would. This terrifies me to say the least... |

Ohh |

If that doesn't solve it, I'd suggest using open office as a suitable substitute. |
|
If that doesn't fix it, something is severely broken, as in a virus or corrupted Windows files. |

Lost count of how many lucid dreams I've had

As a matter of fact it didn't get fixed. I uninstalled and reinstalled it... |

Get Open Office, it's free. I know that's a bit of a cop-out, but it works just as well as Microsoft Word and it doesn't fail as hard. |
|
why a cop-out? |

I always found that OOo was terrible when it came to editing and saving PDF files. Maybe they've fixed it, but that was always the biggest beef with it that I had. I also found it very slow (probably due to tons of Java code) and hated the fact that it didn't use the universal spell/grammar checker. It has it's own so if you add a word in your web browser, it doesn't show up in OOo's database. |

Version 3 allows you to edit PDF's as if they are normal documents |
