You can access the folder with CMD. Press Start, Run, write CMD and hit enter. In this program, write cd desktop and then cd folder4space.

You're now in the folder. Write dir /p to check out the files. You can write start <filename> to start any of the files, del <filename> to delete anything and copy <filename> <new destionation (e.g.: c:\space\)> to move stuff around.

I might be a bit off on that last copy syntax.

I have no idea as to why explorer would act like that. The most likely explenation is that you've got a virus.
