video card problems. Could someone please help?

I've been thinking about buying guild wars (I would appreciate input on that, but I would prefer replies about the video card problem first), so i downloaded the free trial. I'm getting a message that says, "3d input error". It says to update your driver or install directx. I installed direct x, but it still doesnt work, so I figure it is a problem with my video driver. However, the driver is part of my motherboard, so I can't figure out how to update it. help pleeease?

Go to Start > Run > DxDiag

Once that opens up, go to Display and look at the name. Tell me what it says and I will help you from there...

I don't want the driver name. I want the name of you're onboard graphics card.

Did you go to Start > Run and type in dxdiag and click ok?

You just have to tab over to Display and it's the first thing on there.

I think it's fairly certain to say that if it shows up as n/a on all those, then you probably won't be able to play the game.

I know some people have been able to play WoW without graphics cards, but every-so-often they would get some graphics error.

Can you take a screenshot of your dxdiag display page?

Upload the image to www.imageshack.com and I think you want the code that says something for forum use. It should look something like:

      Code:
      [UR L=imageshack][IMG]image[/IMG][/UR L]
      Without the spaces.

      Umm...yeah....

I don't think you have a built in video card at all. You should probably get one. Besides, built in cards suck...

I was able to get a new 8800GTS for under $100 and it runs great. I can play all my games on max settings.

If you've played WoW, then you have a better card that it appears on that pic. I suggest you find a new driver for it, that ought to fix it (very helpful, I'm sure)
Rightclick on the my computer icon, select properties-->hardware-->device management. See if you find any more info there.

      I'm assuming this is a pre-built system
(Ie. you didn't build it yourself)

what's the make & exact model of your machine?

yes, it is a pre built system. It is a Dell Inc Dimension E521. And I am pretty sure it has a built in graphics card. But I don't know how to find out what it is or update it. Also, what is the difference between the driver and the device?

are you sure that's the right one? I've already had to reformat my hardrive because of a trojan, and it was a huge pain. I don't want anything like that again. are you sure this this safe/the right one?

[edit] I hugely appreciate your time by the way, and your effort to help

It's from Dell. Dell doesn't hand out trojans .

have you adhered to 4012a protocols? If not, i wouldn't even bother selecting your ported binary hunkmegs. Just strip it down to 42a, remove the little tabs along the safe/bypass AIAIAIA channel so you don't have to re-route your entire config dialog to your outboard extraction kernels. I mean, lol, who is going to debug a hyperthreaded outgoing data exchange port if it hasn't got a b11 safety bus?
