laptop suggestions

I am going to college soon and am going to be getting a laptop does anybody have any suggestions on what laptop I should get. I do not want a Mac I want one with a good proccesser for games like portal. have Wi-Fi and is good for essay writing

It depends on what you're going to school for Art, graphics, engineering(except networking) would pretty much require a Mac Networking would pretty much require a Sun Business would pretty much require Windows XP Anything else you should use Ubuntu. Both IBM and Dell sell laptops with Ubuntu preinstalled, that way you're assured that you have the right drivers. I've heard the IBM has stopped selling PCs though. Just stay away from Toshiba and Acer, they are nothing but trouble. Don't go cheap, cheap computers are cheap for a reason. A good computer is something worth investing in.
