      My new rig

      It's shipping right now.

My dad's friend went on my boot menu to "fix" something, ended up killing my computer entirely.
So he felt bad that he fucked it up so he got his friend to fix the fixing but it still wasn't as good as it used to be.
I'm on the phone with him trying to fix it and he tells me he's gotta go cause he has to be somewhere in 15 minutes...
15 minutes later he knocks on the door of my apartment and he's like... "I'm buying you a replacement and taking your beat ass XPS off your hands".

      CyberpowerPC Gamer Infinity 3313

It seems like this would be a downgrade... but when my pops bought the original computer he got the cheapest, lowest quality everything. So this is like 4 times better than what I got now.

And I still don't think it's quite settled in yet, that some guy that I barely know just dropped $600 on me so I can get a new computer.

Now all you've got to do is downgrade to XP or get linux. If it were me, I'd cry for hours knowing my good name would be disgraced by possessing a computer running Vista.

I'm just gonna deal with it until Windows 7 drops I think.

But I just unboxed it and the fucking processor fan separated from the mounts in shipment... it fell apart inside.

That's because CyberpowerPC fucking sucks, like most of those discount computer places. Buck up and by an XPS or an Alienware.

What is so horrible about Vista compared to XP that everyone has to say things like this?

      Expensive much.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

You can probably fix that yourself with a screwdriver--just make sure you're grounded, and preferably do the work off-carpet with your feet on the floor.

I got my last PC from Cyberpower and am completely satisfied, though the "Corsair or top brand" RAM was shit, but you DO NOT want to deal with an RMA with them. If your machine arrived damaged, fix it yourself--all the parts are there, they probably just failed to tighten a screw or run some wiring in an intelligent manner. It's a Pacific Rim sweatshop over there. You get a great machine for the money if it arrives intact, but you've got about 1 in 5 odds of receiving a dud.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I have never had a problem with Alienware and all of their systems are actually put together professionally. Hardly 'overpriced bullshit' -- I'm paying for all of the parts (The high-end parts, that is, not Corsair shit.), the shipping, and the professional assembly along with the warranty and free technical support, though I have never had to use it.

Yeah for sure I'd get Alienware if I could afford them but I'm a broke ass college student with no job.

I looked at and couldn't afford.

The ones I could have gotten would have been downgrades from what I currently have.

In other news... the broken CPPC is shipping to Newegg... I should have the replacement by Friday.

Being "put together professionally" means nothing. A system you put together yourself is no different from one a "professional" builds unless you fuck something up. While you're paying for high-end parts, you're paying too much money for them just because you're falling for their marketing. You can buy the same parts as an Alienware and build it yourself much cheaper.

Why must people be so critical of the financial life of others when most people are deeply in debt themselves? People will buy what they want anyway, so it is kind of pointless for that kind of argument.

And Newegg is quite excellent, aside from the somewhat common DOA due to poor packing.

I don't care if someone buys an alienware for themselves, I just get annoyed when people recommend bad things to other people.

      It's so nice

I got it hooked up to my 17" Dell screen, and my 43" Panasonic Viera. I can't raise the resolution though, so stuff looks pretty bad on the TV. Any way to fix this? I'm installing Crysis right now and I really want to rock that on the TV.
