I'm headed to Russia shortly and I want to make sure my laptop's not going to keel over on me while I'm there. There are a couple sounds that are a little less than ideal, but they're not all the time so I don't know if I should replace parts or not.
The Fan: or at least what I think is the fan. Occasionally it sounds like there's dirt in there or a miniature version of the sound a big fan makes if there's some small obstruction(s) in it. It only seems to make that sound when it's at an angle, though, so I don't if it's something I need to worry about. I feel confident in my ability to replace a simple fan, but I just want to see if you think I should get a new one.
[i]The CD/DVD Drive[i]: It doesn't seem to be a huge issue, but when I stick a disc in, at least at first it sounds like it wants to just take off. If I push it in, it isn't as loud (because there's not as much space for it to vibrate). Should I buy a replacement for that as well?
This laptop's a few years old and I've put it through it's paces, but at this point in time I can't afford a new one. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
(It was also a gift and the giver forgot to give me the OS software that goes along with it, so I'll be putting Ubuntu or something on a disc to take with me just in case... along with instructions on how to use it.)
