Bing vs. Google… the War of the Search Engines

So… you’ve probably seen the ads for Bing.com, which tout it as being much better at producing relevant search results than existing search engines. But, comparing it to Google and analyzing the differences between the results… I haven’t really noticed many. Supposedly, Bing is the first ever “decision engine,” but with my experience to judge, it’s just another search engine. Opinions?

Bing's excessive graphics and scripting means it takes longer to load, something I dislike when I just pop open a new tab to search something on a whim. Google's plain page consisting of maybe an image and a couple of links loads almost as fast as about:blank. I gain nothing with Bing that Google doesn't already offer me without the slowdown.

Google is faster and more powerful than Bing. All of the "decision" logic that is in Bing is also in Google. Google also has millions of processors doing the work, so it's much faster than Bing which only has a few thousand. Microsoft wrote Bing themselves, they don't have a good track record doing that. They have never released a product that they wrote themselves that's worked well.

Microsoft is a vicious, brutal, power-hungry, glutton of a company. Now they're attempting to take over the search engine industry the same way they took over the internet browsers by burying Netscape's Navigator, only this time Microsoft is outmatched and will be denied by the empire of Google. Once Microsoft figures out that they can't win, they'll try to buy out Google as a reflex, only to realize they can't afford to.

I still don't understand how it's a decision engine. It makes decisions for you.... When search terms are entered that match products and services MS sells, those products are promoted up the list of results. Similarly, search terms that match products and services of competitors are demoted

Google is free and comes built into Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. IE's slipping popularity needs to be fixed if they want to attempt to take on Google. They also lack the business knowledge of Bill Gates. Steve Balmer is not on the same level as he is.

Well....I'm not really biased. I like Google, and I like Bing. They both work pretty well for me, but I think I'm gonna stick with Google for now, just because I'm more used to it.
