      Infected with annoying malware

It pops up in a window in the bottom right of the screen. It always shows up, no matter what program I am running. If I press it, my program minimizes. It's popped up twice while writing this. It really wants me to buy SecureWarrior.

      What do I do, DV? I need a free anti-virus program x.x

      MalwareBytes Anti-Malware

      Google it.

Also, malware is a funny word.

      This might help: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/viru...-securewarrior

And if you're really, really knowledgeable with the mechanics of Windows, you can remove *any* malware yourself with Process Explorer, Filemon, and TCPView. I removed a rootkit that didn't respond to any software like this. Just watch for stuff that shouldn't be there, then remove it manually. I only recommend this if you have extensive knowlege of Windows.

It's not always porn sites. I've gotten ambushed by other places also. It's just that I happen to be incredibly reckless when it comes to not getting infected with malicious programs. Usually I'm able to fix it quickly, but this one was persistent.

Anyway, I removed it somehow. I'm not sure exactly what I did to fix it, but I did it.

For anti-spyware, malware, I recommend Ad-Aware, by Lavasoft. Never had a problem with it before. It's free

As an anti-virus, I recommend either Avast or AVG free. Both are good. Again, never had an issue. Both are free

For an extra layer of protection, I like to use Spybot, Search and Destroy. Again, no problems. More free stuff

If you want a decent firewall, try Zone Alarm. I don't use it because it really doesn't seem to like Firefox all that well, but it works great. Still free

I accidentally infected my computer with a virus (don't EVER download tunebite!) and these guys eliminated every trace of it. They've also annihilated numerous tracking cookies that have actually slipped through my firewall and firefox.
