      Real3d vs Imax3D

Last week I watched avatar in the cinema in the real3d technology that disney was pushing I thought the 3d was just incredible... It made the movie for me, the picture could have been a tiny bit better, but the landscapes just blew me away in 3d.

So I decided to go see it in the imax with my friends... I was crushed. The picture was crisper in spots, but that was the only positive thing it had going for it...

The Imax 3d just didn't work well... It worked fine in some spots, but for the majority of the movie, it was basically 2d.

A good example would be the beginning, when you see his eye ball. That part worked perfectly, but then when the shot pans out to see the water droplet in front of his face, watching in real3d, it was pretty cool, you see a sphere floating in front of his face and its a need trick... watching it in the Imax the same dropet had zero 3d to it and it appeared as a circle on his face...

Thats only the beginning of the problems, and most innoculous. All the amazing vistas that had just amazing depth blew my mind while watching it in real3d had practically no depth at all in the imax...

Everything good about that movie just get bum-raped by the imax...

I don't think I have ever said this before, but go see it in a regular cinema instead of the imax...

I just came back from seeing this movie with real 3d, and I am glad that I did. It too amazes me how Disney does it, and if you take the glasses off it isn't that unbearable to watch. Especially if you compare it with that obsolete red and blue "3d" nonsense

Both techniques are called Real 3D, or atleast both techniques are based off the concept of circular polarization.
