Anyway,
From what I've heard from people across the pond,
there's a serious lack of competition in US broadband services
often with customers having only a single ISP choice
This means that ISP's have absolutely no incentive to improve services or reduce costs, leading to expensive but lacking service
(I don't know how true this is for major cities, but I've heard it's quite bad in more rural areas)
I think this is Google's way of tackling that
(after all, their core business relies on people having reliable net connections)
