      Another fake Antivirus software

Beware of a program called Antivirus Soft, sometimes known as Antivirus Soft Demo.

You may have fallen for Antivirus scams before. Software such as Antivirus System Pro and Antivirus Live.

Such programs basically do obnoxious and exaggerated displays that, while ridiculously exaggerated. I mean, it will have you believe that hackers are attacking your computer every five seconds, viruses with sinister names such as "bankerfox.a" are swarming your computer like flies, and they block any attempts to open programs such as windows explorere or task manager, with the excuse that it's infected.

Guide to remove it is here.

I'm sorry, but I like my computer runing smoothly. The heads up is nice.

Thanks, Noogah, I'll keep an eye out for that one.

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

The real problem with these kinds of things is usually as soon as it initiates the scam attempt it's already too late to stop it.

      Actually, it isn't.

      Visit the link I posted.

Usually an all purpose solution is to boot into safe mode, disable the program from launching at startup, then booting into normal mode, and deleting the virus.

That doesn't mean it was impossible to get rid of. It simply means you were unaware of how to do so.

But, there was a last time. Thus, you did, at one point, get a virus. Also, you will get a virus at a later point in time, assuming you are a normal person.

Computer viruses are pretty like human viruses. They happen when you're not looking. All you can do is get rid of them.

It's actually pretty difficult to get malicious software if you're steering clear of untrusted websites/links.

Problem: Not every website has blinking text that says

WARNING: THIS IS A BAD WEBSITE THAT HAS THE INTENT OF GIVING YOU MALWARE IN ORDER TO PUT A RANSOM ON YOUR COMPUTER TO SCAM YOU OUT OF MONEY! IF YOU DO NOT WANT MALWARE, PLEASE LEAVE!

I mean, if I avoided every website I didn't know about, I would have never found dreamviews.

Obviously, one should stay clear of suspicious looking websites. But, not all harmful websites look suspicious.

I wasn't talking about getting rid of it (although that was a
pain in the ass). I meant that it wasn't a matter of
me falling for the scam, it initiated (pops up "your computer is under attackfrom viruses blah blah") and that was it, in other words nothing could be done to keep from getting the virus.

Also I second your last post. When I got the virus I'm talking about I was on youtube.

      This is probably true.

Computer viruses are pretty like human viruses. They happen when you're not looking. All you can do is get rid of them.
This is not true. The majority of viruses and malware are spread through the following means:

      - Trick links
      - Infected email attachments
      - Security holes

Trick links are very easy to avoid, you'd have to be an idiot to fall for that.
Infected email attachments are a bit more tricky. I don't recall ever getting infected that way.
Security holes are the ones that are a bit more difficult to fend your self against, if you're not good at using computers.
Here's how you become a good computer user:

      - Use a proper internet browser and keep it updated.
      - Use good anti-virus software that auto updates.
      - Update your operating system regularly. Those updates from Microsoft are not a joke.
      - Don't go to websites with unusual top level domains
