I'm a little confused. My SP has changed..?

When I first found out about WILDing (though I hadn't read about all of it yet), I decided to try that very night. I went to bed, and then proceeded to fall into SP. While I obviously wasn't in a REM state, the SP seemed to happen smoothly, and I think I would have made it to a false awakening at least, if I were in a REM cycle. But I attempted another WILD last night, and it felt like my breathing disrupted my SP. Was it just grogginess, or something else?
Also, does anyone's mouths fill up with saliva? My I felt the need to swallow often, and I'm worried that that disrupts my SP as well.

Swalloing spit dosent stop you from the wild or sleep paralysis to my understanding. What happpend to your breathing? If it seems to become very slowed down then that means your slipping into SP dont fight it or it will reduce your chances of success. Also WILDing dosent work very well at night, actually its considered extremly difficult, maybe more than you think. See WBTB method. Or attempt in the atfternoon.

I guess everyone's different; if I swallow I usually get pulled out a little and it takes longer. I've bit the bullet and swallowed enough times to know that (personally at least)- the feeling of needing to swallow is BS. I swear sometimes it feels like there's a ton of spit in my mouth and I'm gonna like end up gurgling it, but once I wake up enough to swallow I notice there wasn't even hardly any in my mouth at all. I think it's just an urge, like an itch or ache, your body gives you to poke you and check if you're still awake before it dives into SP. Countless times now I've ignored it to no ill effect, and 'feeling of needing to swallow' fades away as SP happens and the dream eventually starts.
