Was I close to a WILD?

I'm new to LD'ing and have been reading about it for a few weeks. Last night I was working late, got really tired around 3am and went to bed.

Remembering a great article about the WILD method from someone on these forums (sorry forgot who's it was) I decided to try it out for the first time - knowing I was probably way out of my league and knowing it usually works best after sleeping for a while before.

So anyway, I laid on my back and rested my arms, and concentrated on be as relaxed as possible. I decided to visualize a familiar outdoor setting - so that I could really imagine myself there, feel the wind, smell etc. For some reason I was also visualizing myself floating in my bed.

After around 5-10 mins I started to feel a weird sensation that spread from my legs and worked its way through to my upper body. I knew something not normal was happening (not a normal way of falling asleep) so I kept my eyes closed and tried to let the feeling continue.

After a minute the feeling was quite intense and it was at this point my heart rate starting to go crazy. Something happened with the concentration of my eyes and they started to flicker underneath my eye lids. It was very weird because I still was conscious and my brain was half going "WTF?"

I think I got to a certain point and decided to stop it due to my heart rate and wanting to tell my g/f what I was doing.

For 10-15 mins afterward I felt very cold and was shivering even though I had previously been quite warm in my bed.

After I calmed I decided to give it another shot. I got close again, to where my eyes started flickering and heart rate jumps, but for some reason my heart rate slowed and the feeling started to go away.

I though I might have ruining my chances so I just went to bed.

An hour later I woke from sleep absolutely sweating my ass off and had to change my blankets! No idea why that happened - perhaps a crazy dream? I couldn't remember it if so. I tired to WILD again with no luck.

I just wanted to check if what I experienced was in fact getting close to a WILD or I was experiencing something else?

Edit: Just like most forum noobs I posted this before checking out forum archives. Perhaps I was experiencing SP and close to a WILD but because I tried before any sleep I couldn't make the jump?

Can anyone confirm if I try a WBTB this same way I will have better luck?

The same thing happened to me last night. Except I wasn't even trying to do anything, I just wanted to sleep. I was like "O hey, Sleep Paralysis". Except after I failed to enter a lucid dream, I was really hot afterwards. Interesting . . . .

Hey, I have had the same experiences, and I also would like to know what to do next.

What actually got my further than the point of flickering eyes was imagening that you are falling through your bed into your dream.
So maybe you should try that, or rolling over into your dream(never tried that myself).

And about the cold/heat I think this has something to do with the increased heartrate(which peaks your temperature) and the sweat (which rapidly cools you down afterwards).

      Hope I helped.

It was amazing how intense it was to lay there. I didn't feel frightened. I just go kinda pumped.

I took a full 5mg of Melatonin and that put my body out. Not my mind though . try supplements. They help, or at least give a placebo effect strong enough to put me in the right path.
