So lately I've been getting back into lucid dreaming. For the last week or so I've been trying to WILD and haven't been having much luck. The second night I tried, I think I felt slight vibrations like I was going into sleep paralysis, but it was short-lived and I came out of it. Now the weird part:
Last night I wasn't even trying to WILD at all. I had just laid down in bed for the night and just wanted to go to sleep. I laid very still, just trying to fall asleep. I was thinking about random things, not focusing on anything specific, trying to let my mind drift off to sleep. Not even 10 minutes later, I started to feel kind of tingly all over. Then my right leg twitched, almost violently, which felt almost like a switch going off because immediately after that, I felt like I started sinking into my bed. My heart started racing and my body started to vibrate. Behind my closed eyelids, I started to see something... some kind of weird dark gray pattern that seemed to be engulfing my vision. As this happened, my head felt like it was getting crushed by intense pressure, like I was deep underwater or something. Then I started to hear a really deep, quiet musical tone and some really short high pitched beeps or something. I figured I must be going into sleep paralysis and hallucinating at this point.
I get sort of creeped out when I read about people having freaky hallucinations during this so I started thinking of pleasant things as hard as I could to block out any creepy thoughts. But then my heart rate started to slow, and my body stopped vibrating. I felt normal again, so I opened my eyes and sat up in my bed, doing a reality check just to be sure. Yeah, I was awake. And my head hurt.
So was I on the verge of WILDing? I've never successfully done it before so I'm not sure. Also, since I wasn't anywhere near REM sleep, would I still have gone into a dream or would I have just got stuck in paralysis for an hour or something?
Thanks, and sorry for the long post.
