      Questions on WILDing

Last night I tried my first real attempt at WILDing. I did a couple test runs for like 10 mintutes just to see what laying motionless was like. Anyway, I laid there for 70 minutes completly still. Nothing really happened. I started after about 50 minutes to her a couple strange noises outside and a popping kind of noise, like the flick of a rubber band in my ear. I saw lot's of swirling colors and and my arms, hands, legs, feet were all tingling, like vibrating. And I got a weired wave of chills that went all down my body.

      I got a few questions:

      1) Did I do OK? Am I on the right track her for WILDing?

      2) I had A LOT of yawning while I was laying there? Is that normal, do I surpress it?

      3) The eyes. What do we do about them. Do they stay closed the whole time? Because I opened mine a couple times and I think I mucked it up.

      4) Couple times I fell asleep, but woke right up. Am I supposed to stay awake? Do I let myself fall a sleep. I was affraid if I just fell asleep I would forget what I was doing?

      5) I'm supposed to stay awake for the 90 minutes to get to REM?

I had one feeling we're I was falling. I thought I was falling into the dream and got really excited.

That's more than a couple questions, but I'm new to the WILD technique.

      Thank you!

      Hello,
      1) Did I do OK? Am I on the right track her for WILDing?
Yep you felt the vibrational period, it's not the same for everyone, but what you described sounds pretty similar to me.
      2) I had A LOT of yawning while I was laying there? Is that normal, do I surpress it?
I don't think it's been proven yet why we yawn, but I got told it keeps you awake, but I don't have to struggle to suppress it.
(I like yawning lol, but I don't do it when I attempt to WILD.)
      3) The eyes. What do we do about them. Do they stay closed the whole time? Because I opened mine a couple times and I think I mucked it up.
Yeah Try to keep them closed as much as you can, definitely don't try and keep them open, when I try to WILD my eyes sometimes start to open by themselves which is quite distracting.
      4) Couple times I fell asleep, but woke right up. Am I supposed to stay awake? Do I let myself fall a sleep. I was affraid if I just fell asleep I would forget what I was doing?
Nope, your main aim is to fall asleep, but to remain concious, it's a very difficult balance to keep at first, especially after feeling the vibrations. Just try to relax and passive remain aware, of course there is other methods, try visualising yourself falling/sinking through your bed, or concentrate on your breathing. The guides vary in the technique on entering the dreams, so it depends what suits you.
      5) I'm supposed to stay awake for the 90 minutes to get to REM?
Nope? When you WBTB you should try to wake up at the start of an REM period, some people like to get up for abit, the best times are usually 4.5 hours / 6 hours after sleep. Staying up after WBTB should only be done to a maximum of 30 mins!
Naps in the day are usually REM.

Hope it helped, ask away if you have anymore, you did well!

      Moved to WILD Sub-forum

1.) Yeah, it's a start. WILDing takes practice, and if you don't have any success after thirty minutes, you probably have failed. Just keep it up, and i'm sure you will start to get better!

2.) Well different things like itching, yawning, or wanting to move are normal. You just have to think about something else and if you do happen to yawn, believe that it WILL NOT affect your SP.

3.) Yeah, they should be staying closed. When you WILD you are tricking the body into thinking you are asleep. When you sleep, do you open your eyes? No, right? So when you WILD you should be acting like you are asleep.

4.) Well the trick is to let your body fall asleep but keep your mind awake. You want to stay aware enough so you don't fall asleep but relaxed enough so you can get into SP and into the dream.

5.) Nope. You should be doing a WBTB to WILD. So wake up after about 5-7 hours after you fall asleep right before or in the middle of the REM cycle so that you are already in it. When you WILD it shouldn't take more than thirty minutes, maybe less. As I got better at WILDing it takes me 1-5 minutes to get into SP and the dream.

I recommend you try to visualize the dream scene you want to be in once you get into sleep paralysis. Visualizing will help move the process faster, and you could have HH related to that visualization. When you visualize you want to use ALL senses not just sight. How does the place feel, smell like, etc.

Good luck, and keep at it!

Haha no problem. In my signature I have a link to my WILD guide you can click. Scroll down towards the bottom of my posts until you get to "The Urge to Swallow" section. It should help. Good luck!
