Several WILD attempts, very determined but need help

I've been trying to lucid dream for awhile. I began sleeping to binaural beats, and now I've researched further into lucid dreaming, and discovered methods such as WBTB, and WILD. I've gaven the WILD technique about three goes, and I can't get it down.

What happens when I attempt is: I lay down on my back, arms folded on my chests, listening to binaural beats to induce lucid dreaming. I focus on the shapes such on my eyelids as I've learned to do. After about 10min, my limbs begin to feel weird. Sometimes I feel slight pains i various locations, my whole body feels kinda heavy. Sometimes I begin to do a constant shaking like twitch, and every once in awhile a stronger twitch. I focus, but as relaxed watch my eyelid's visuals waiting for them to get more vivid. I once started seeing flashing like a strobe light in my eyelids. However, I never make it to a conscious dream. Sometimes I feel like I'm falling, I once had a massive jolt and broke out of it.

My problem is: randomly while im focusing on the shapes, I fall into a mini-dream I think? It seems like my mind randomly wanders off without me planning to, then I come out of it with a small idea of what I was thinking, but I wasn't aware of my surroundings at the time. basically feels like Im laying there, when jump forward in time and realize I was thinking about something, but I can't think of it in any detail. I end p doing that a few times until I give up usually around 20-40min. It feels like I was laying there only 5min or so.

What can I do? Im very determined to lucid dream, but I rarely remember my dreams, and relying on random ones doesn't please me. I really want to do a WILD. Could the binaural beats be messing me up? Ones I've tried inducing a lucid dream with you can find with these titles on youtube

I've generally not found binaural beats to do anything helpful, but that's just my experience. Binaural beats are basically just to get you relaxed, but there are other ways to relax. Lots of online beats are fakes and have no real effect whatsoever, so check your sources carefully! Either way, though, they're probably not hindering you unless you're wearing uncomfortable headphones.

I suggest reading this WILD tip; this guide has lots of additional links, and this guide is one of my favorites.

But guides only take you part of the way -- feeling out what works for you will account for most of what you learn and know. I've learned some important things, but a HUGE part of starting out with WILDs is to not be too aware of your surroundings. Like the links above say, you must fall asleep (crazy, right?) to have a WILD. That means you must be relaxed enough -- but wait! Don't focus on relaxing. Try to mimic what you do when falling asleep normally. With a little time, luck, and practice, you'll get into the perfect balance of consciousness. But don't try to analyze everything that's happening. If you're constantly wondering if this twitch or that weird sensation is SP or HI, you'll probably not get anywhere.

Focusing on the inside of your eyelids can lead to some funky things, but I've found that they don't really lead to anything and keep me too aware besides. Also, you don't have to lie on your back if this isn't your natural position. Most of my WILDs thus far have been on my side.

The "mini-dreams" are very common and can be a little frustrating to manipulate. This technique can help you put them to use. Basically what they mean is that your mind is relaxing and starting some processes. Your subconscious is sorting through memories and information from the day, and some of that is picked up by your conscious mind and made into a weird, short dream sequence. This is sometimes called an indication of HI, but even if it's not, it means you're relaxed. If you suddenly come out of one and realize you had been in a mini-dream, even though it may slip your memory, it's a good time to start imagining where you want to go (also known as a VILD), very lightly move your fingers (FILD), or engage an anchor.

And last but not least, it's only your third day trying. It took me 3 months and I'm completely unsuccessful on weekdays, so you might just need to try at the right time. Good luck!

Sorry for all the info! I've read a LOT of guides, not all of them good, and whenever I see a new WILDer I tend to want to overload them with the good information. 'Lying still and waiting for SP' guides are fine for the basics--learning your reality checks, some common methods, what to expect from HI, that sort of thing. Unfortunately there's no general formula for WILDs that works for everyone. I just want to help other WILDers skip the three months of frustration and failure I had before I implemented some of these guides (along with a bit of luck and good timing)!

And in case you're not totally overwhelmed, there's always the list of all the best and most useful guides! Minus a few that didn't fit in those categories but are still good. Happy reading and good luck

You saved me so much time, and I appreciate it so very much. I bookmarked all the sources, and created game-plans with many backups, giving them all a shot to find out what's effective to me. Ill be giving two shots tonight for a LD, and i'll record it if im successful. For my second shot with a WBTB-WILD, I'll refresh myself by re-reading. Thanks agian, so so much!
