Unhappy I am having a hard time staying awake when before I had the opposite problem

I have been attempting wilds on and off for the past 3 years and my issue was always getting to/past SP. I have always had the problem of not being able to fall asleep and get as far as my eyes starting to flutter only to be interrupted from opening eyelids and various other things. But the past week or so all of my attempts have ended in my falling asleep before i can even get to the wavy feeling I have gotten on every attempt Ive done since my first try. Sorry i know this subject has been discussed my times but being that its the exact opposite problem ive had im a little frustrated because i feel like i am taking steps backwards and am wondering what you guys think

Don't look at is a step backwards, this is perfectly normal. In fact, I would prefer this to not being able to sleep, that way, you don't cheat yourself on sleep if your WILD doesn't work. Have you tried wbtb? That way you get some sleep before you attempt a WILD. Or, if you're not a fan of waking up in the middle of the night, take a nap or two during the day (That'll give you additional dreams you can work with).
If you have any questions, just ask.
      Good luck and happy dreaming!

yeah ive been doing WBTB's every night to no avail. The reason I have been looking at it as a step backwards is because i really enjoy all the stuff that happens during a wild (HP, swaying feeling ect.) so falling asleep before any of that happens makes me kinda sad : /
