Question about REM and HI

Hello all, So everytime I go to bed(drowsy) around 9:30 pm Im already seeing yellow lava lamp-like images is this HI? on my other question, I have an app called dreamn for iphone that monitors my wake/REM periods and already know my rem and deep sleep times how do I take advantage of this? thanks.
