      WILD isn't working out as planned

      Hello lucid dreamers,

      I've been trying to get reasonable at lucid dreaming for about a year now, and have had some success (7 lucid dreams). All of them have been dream induced, my first being only reality checks and the latter all thanks to ADA.

      Unfortunately, each and every single attempt at WBTB or WILDing in general has been a failure. What always happens is either i fall asleep too fast, or nothing at all happens or even what sometimes happened is i twitched too hard when my WILD was starting, causing me to move too much and break the WILD (seriously i have no idea why that happens ). I really want to try to WILD but i keep failing every time.

      Does anybody have this? Do you have any advice or personal experiences to share?

      Thanks in advance!

      You have to stay up for WBTB just the right amount of time. How long can be different for everybody and even for your each attempt. In general, you stay up from 5-60 (or even 90) min, turn the lights on and do something LDing related. You should stay up only untill you wake up your logic center (easy math problems in your head should do the trick), but you still sleepy enough to fall asleep in reasonable time.

      You stay up too short - you fall asleep too soon. You stay up too long - your body will think you got up for good and will switch into 'day mode', not expecting to go to sleep again till next night.

      But don't be discouraged. WILDs are not easy to pull off even if all circumstances are ideal. Keep trying, because the reward is really fantastic.

      This tutorial (sageous) has great details about the whole process, including timing.

      In general, i have problems getting up out of my bed for WBTB as well i forgot to mention, and i have no idea what to do for about 30 minutes. Do you have any recommendations for those 30 minutes?

      it doesnt exactly have to be thirty minutes....you can read lucid material...go to the bathroom..read your dream journal...that way even if you fail a WILD your more likely to have a DILD
      Dilds=5 Wilds=1 total LDs=6

      Either drink water before bed and every time you get up - untill your desired WBTB time, or set a timer. Although, waking up naturally is prefered. Also, learn to notice micro awakenings we all have after REM is over.

      I didn't say to stay up for 30 min. How long you stay up - it really depends on how fast you wake up to the point of being able to think logically, but still being sleepy. That could be 5 min, but could be longer. It's a matter of trial and error. If it won't work this time, you take note of it and adjust it next time.

      And you should do something, that will get you thinking about LDs. Reading tutorials, post and DJs on DV, write down your goal - what you want to do in a LD, draw a picture of it, watch a lucid related video on youtube, your old dreams...

      Moved to WILD

      Alright, thanks for the information so far but i have one more question: What about the "or even what sometimes happened is i twitched too hard when my WILD was starting, causing me to move too much and break the WILD (seriously i have no idea why that happens )" Has any of you ever heard of that before or experienced it? It seems like it's impossible to WILD when that's still in the way
