      Failed WILD attempt, what happened?

Alright so for a while I"ve been trying to do WILD and never got it to work. I would normally just fall asleep by accident, however today I got it to work sorta... then it immediately broke. After sleeping for several hours I woke up and decided to try and do WILD. I stayed there motionless for like an hour. This time I was finally able to get to the next step instead of falling sleep. I slipped into Sleep Paralysis! For like 10 seconds then it immediately broke. What the hell happened? Why did I just snap out of SP immediately. I have had SP and have attained Lucidity through it several times, but I never got to SP through WILD before so this was new. So going from my bed and slipping into SP was kind of freaky at first but I know I was in SP. What I do not know is why did I just wake right back up? I didn't move or anything. If only I could of stayed in SP for a good minute I"d of been able to easily started my lucid dream...
Is it because I slept for too long and was too awake? I ended up sleeping for 12 hours before trying WILD lol.

I would not worry about SP at all. It's not a requirement for WILDing. I have never felt SP and have many WILDs and even more attempts. If yu concentrate on SP, you concentrate on your body and you should not do that.

It doesn't matter if you feel SP or not, you should go through the WILDing process.

Btw, if you were not paralyzed, you were not in SP. If you didn't move to test it, how do you know you were in SP anyway?

Please read WILD (sageous) tutorial to see how to WILD without the extra, for most of the people impossible to achieve step of SP.

Well I can't say 100% because I didn't get enough time to test... 10 seconds.. but I'm pretty sure I entered that stage for a brief moment as I've experienced SP before many times. One main reason I judged it to be was because I felt my body sort of sink or it felt heavier, kind of like stone, there was also a sense of huge fear. It could possibly not be SP, if not that then what stage was it?

Through SP a few times in the past, including the one a few nights ago, I've been able to enter a Lucid dream, or potentially an OBE, not sure what it would be. I'd be in SP, eyes open, can't move, intense fear, and after many times of practice in the past I'm now able to exit my body so to speak. It's an odd feeling but alot of the time I'd just have to imagine myself rising out of my body rather than trying to control it like normal as that doesn't work being paralyzed. With that I've wandered my house, and a few times burst through the window, or exited the front door and entered another dream world or something. Through this I'm fully lucid. So that's why I'm trying to do the WILD technique or whatever that I read where it leads you into SP, from there I can manage the rest. It's just I haven't been able to manually get to SP through WILD yet. I thought I did last night but it lasted too short for me to be fully sure. Last night was the closest I think I've gotten to success though not by much. Before during WILD I'd only do the lay down, stay still, and wait part and nothing would happen, and I'd just fall asleep. So yeah last night was different, when I thought I had it, at the part where I needed, everything went back to normal.. darn.

So I would like to reproduce SP as often as I can if possible. Is there a method that can lead to this whenever I wanted?

I would only focus on trying to become Lucid Through Sleep Paralysis when you actually get Sleep Paraylsis. You shouldnt be looking/waiting for Sleep Paralysis to happen. I have never experienced sleep paralysis ever and have over 20 WILDs to my credit. The most ive experienced was tactile sensations such as bed trembling, shaking, feeling my dream body wiggle out of physical body, etc. And auditory hallucinations such as people laughing, talking, and random sirens. All i had to do to end this hypnagogia was to open my eyes. Never experienced full body paralysis ever.

Now you say you remained motionless for over an hour? I used to try that technique when i got into lucid dreaming, and all it did was mess up my sleep pattern and frustrate me to the point of giving up on lucid dreaming entirely. Thank the lord, i got great answers from people like CMIND, gab, Mzzck, and that one girl whos profile pic of from that alien movie, who explained to me what i should really do to WILD.

It literally takes me a minute at most to perform a WILD. Usually my technique is similar to DEILD if i manage to wake up still but 9/10, I wake up dead tired, and bring up a simple visualization, like looking at my hands or driving my car, or looking at my house, and within seconds the visualization slowly becomes more vivid until im actually dropped in the dream.

      Hope this helps

For the WILD to be successful, you need to fall asleep while being aware, not just stay still or something, if your attempt lasts for more than 30-40 minutes you are not sleepy enough, try doing attempt earlier when you are more sleepy or try doing less activity before attempt.
You would not be able to induce sleep paralysis unless you have sleep disorder with same name and i am not entirely sure if you have it from what you are describing. Either way if you get into true SP, use it, if not, don't bother trying to get into it. Also check out the link gab posted.
      Good luck!

Yeah I tried the stay still method and so far, besides last night, hasn't produced jack. What I've read said that if you stay still long enough, your brain is supposed to think your body is asleep and thus you get shot into SP.. so that's why I've been trying that route.

Sleep Paralysis at first is frightening, atleast the ones I had. I've had ghouls sitting right on top of my chest, with my head laying sideways and I could only see him through my peripheral vision. It also felt like he was sucking the life out of me. I've also seen dark shaded cloaked figures, me lying their eyes open staring into the hood as it just loomed over me while I could do nothing... yeah not fun. But ever since like a year ago I figured how to turn my SPs into full fledged lucid dreams.. still frightening at times but it's not that bad anymore. Might be because I'm used to it, or just not as afraid anymore. However even though my mind doesn't fear the Strangers as much as before, my body still feels the same, still feels horrified.

Also thanks for all the suggestions guys, and I'll have to read that tutorial when I've got some spare time later, thanks.
