Did I achieve anything in last night WILD attempt?

Last night I tried WILDing because I have little in the way of dream success lately

I was perfectly comfortable. I tried the novel way of focussing on the tinnitus I have (and it seemed unusually loud...if it was like that all the time I think it would start to get to me) My arms became heavy and my hands had a slight pins and needles feeling (my arms were resting comfortably)

I get through the itchy tickley bit now by telling myself it's a stage on the road to LD. I began to feel hot and I switched the ceiling fan on low speed

I may have dozed off a couple of time because two hours passed very quickly. A few times times I felt that I couldn't breathe and I had to take really deep breaths (maximum chest expansion) and I never ever have to do that...and that was it really. I finally went back to bed

Is there ANYTHING in there that I could take comfort from? Should I have resisted the urge to breathe so deeply? (if that was even possible) and was I anywhere on the road to WILDing?

The feeling of not being able to breathe is something my friend have told me to be the sensation he feels right before he finds himself in the dream.

So my question to you is, did you ever make an effort to see if you were in fact awake or in a dream?

My guess is that you eiher was really close to the transition or that you already had transitioned without knowing.

However in order for you to continue practising with ease and not feeling frustrated, you should not try to find comfort in the things you can't really control such as the result, succeeding the WILD. The mindset you should have is to find comfort and be happy that you did an attempt and plan to continue doing it, because eventually you will get your result.

Focus on change not result, because if you focus on result you will never change.

I am kind of weird, I actually enjoy the practise and what I learn from it, more than the actual experiences themself. I don't know how that change happened, I guess I just realized somewhere along the way that practising and learning lucid dreaming etc. is really fun! Although on the other hand that is the mindset that I think makes the practise so easy, because I don't get frustrated when I don't get my result but at the same time, day after day I come closer to the life style of constant result.

      Good luck and sweet dreams!

Hi Mastermind If you read some of my posts you'll see that I've said repeatedly that I really enjoy the anticipation that one day I might LD, the preparations for LD'ing and the things I'm learning about dreams, my mind and the interaction with others...in a nutshell, I'm loving it all and, even if I'm still trying to LD this time next year I will still be reading, experimenting and hopefully learning.

I have an experience of two amazing hypnagogic visions and some really vivid dreams long before I read about LDs driving me on...I'm not lucid but, as Martin Luther King, said "I've SEEN the Promised Land!" I thank you for the info about breathing and I take it on-board I wondered whether the deep breathing might have destroyed the attempt, but I now see that I should have persevered longer...and I certainly should have checked for false awakening.

The beauty of being retired is that I can try again tonight...or during tomorrow...or tomorrow night. I'm sorry if my post hinted at impatience...I don't feel that way. I was merely looking for feedback on my experiences...and you have provided that in spades. Many thanks.
