      WILD/DEILD Question

I tlhave gotten pretty close to completing a WILD a couple of times, but I heard about DEILD which seems tons easier than WILD.

My problem is that I'm somewhat of a heavy sleeper, so my recall is unstable, and waking up during a dream naturally for DEILD is not currently an option. I really don't want to have to use an alarm.

How can I train myself to be a light sleeper?

Also, is it possible to DEILD when yiu naturally wake up at the end of a REM cycle?

DEILD isn't necessarily easier because of light sleep. It is effective when you can be aware of when you are waking up or coming out of a dream. This does not require light sleeping.

What you could do is remind yourself before going to sleep that when you wake up, you will immediately think about your dreams. Doing this for a while will help your awareness coming out of dreams, and your recall.

You can even try using a mantra of some sort before going to sleep to set that intention even stronger.

Theoretically, you always wake up at the end of REM cycles. Being aware when that happens, then re-entering a dream is your best bet on that end.
