      My last challenge in WILD

I am very close to WILDing. Iīve been trying for months now, and Iīve made a few threads about this subject, so sorry about that.

Now I only face ONE challenge: Consciousness, which is the biggest prob in WILDing, so itīs not anything small. I just canīt remain conscious!

So I feel like Iīm missing some key factor. Please, if you read this post, help me if you can! What is the key factor?
Here is my usual WILD routine:
      1. Sleep 4-6h
      2. Wake up, stay up for 10secs-20minutes
      3. Back to bed
      4. Some relaxation
      5. Using an anchor like pain and trying to fall asleep
      FAILURE:
      - I donīt fall asleep
      - I wake up in the morning, angry

What am I doing wrong? If someone has the answer, and I succeed in WILDing, Iīll be sure to include his or her nick on my sig (if he or she wants to)

You might be staying awake too long.

I'll only stay awake long enough to become aware that I'm in waking life(or long enough to jot down a few things in my dream journal) and then I'll get in a comfortable sleeping position. I used to count breaths, but it gets frustrating after you get pretty high up. Too remain aware, I think about the WILD I'm about to do. I prepare myself.

This could also go along with the problem of falling asleep. You should physically(by getting in a comfortable position) and mentally prepare yourself. I've heard people say not to talk to yourself during the WILD, but if that means thinking about something then it doesn't affect me in the least. Perhaps it's because you're still remaining focused on the task.

What have you been doing to try and stay concious/aware?

Iīve mostly just tried to remain aware without any help, sometimes I try the pain anchor, sometimes I count...

I think that the counting method could be it.

As in, that's what's keeping you from WILDing or that's technique you think will lead you to a successful WILD?

You really just have to try different things, and see which works best for you. I tried the breathing technique in the beginning, that didn't really get me anywhere. Later I tried visualizing myself walking up stairs, and that resulted better than my first attempts. Now I find that simply trying to remain aware is best for me.

I really donīt think that the tech matters so much. The only thing is to keep myself aware.

      Oh, I see.

It may seem unrelated, but my sleeping position seems to affect my awareness. Maybe experiment with that.

I feel that at the end of the day you still have to fall asleep to WILD.

I will go through the counting and mantras etc until I feel suitably snug.
But the end of any succesful wilds I find I focus on simply emptying my mind and not thinking.
