as the title suggests i'm having a bit of trouble with HI. I lie there for ages and go into SP and everything but i never seem to get any significant HI wen i try to WILD. Lots of the time i just get flashes of white and stuff. but that's about it. Any suggestions, tips or anything?

You don't need HI to WILD. A lot of my WILDS I just get hallucinations and darkness. I do a reality check and then open my eyes and I am fine. I would consider those flashes HI.
if you can read this then you are about to be punched

Your trouble might be that you're mixing different WILD techniques.

SP is supposed to be used for WILD techniques where the dreamer focuses intensely on the feelings of their body, then raises their dream body out of their bed. The fact that you're focusing so much on your body means that you're very fixated on it, its position, and so trying to turn HI into a dream while focusing on the fact that your body is laying in the bed means you're going to run into problems of "Well if I'm standing on a bridge by the city, how come I am also laying down in a bed?" Try to pick one or the other. The hugest problem with the WILD technique is that people confuse it and botch it and become utterly obsessed with sleep paralysis or some hypnagogia and aren't understanding that there are a few different ways to WILD, and that focusing on your body to attempt to get into SP is only one of them.

The Hypnagogic Imagery Technique is what uses your hypnagogia to build a dream scene and cause a dream to form around you. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with sleep paralysis.

True, for a WILD by focusing on your body. For a WILD by focusing on your HH, you don't need SP (actually you never need SP). If it's HIT he's talking about, it's SP he doesn't need.
