      Is this WILD?

What I've been doing for couple of nights is to try to keep my eyes open, when I'm about to fall asleep. Not forcing them to open, but bit of recistance not to "go out", I also think: "I'll stay conscious, I'll stay conscious..."

So is this WILD? Directly from waking state to lucid dream, that's what it is, right?

My results are very bright light as soon as I realize I'm sleeping. The light covers my entire field of vision. At the first night this happened I was keeping my cool, wondering what to do with it. Tried to make an apple appear on my hand, but all I got was green blurry mist, which was trying to turn into an apple, but didn't. Oh me with little faith!

Last night I had similar light but also some sound effect connected to the light. Bit like those "ganzfeld" -noises (you should be able to find them from YouTube). There were also some sort of wall of light or something, which blocked me and I wasn't able to do even the blurry apple mist, because I began to think my body is in sleep and therefore I can't reach my hand out to the dream... How stupid of me! I don't even believe "me" is this body, but rather my consciousness... if even that. Ok, that is bit zen...

So not having a dream body I was able to turn the noise down and effect the brightness of the light a bit, but then I woke up and wrote something to my dream journal, that I can't read. Well, at least I remember all of the above.

I wonder, should I continue with this technique. I've heard WILD is one of the most difficult techniques, but then again, is it difficult because we believe it is? Another strange thing is, now that I'm trying to have lucid dreams, I can barely remember my non-lucid dreams at all and I used to remember loads of them.

I've read about MILD and meditation is part of, right? I've done lot of meditating, even reach what Buddhist call "piiti" or "piti" twice. It's a blissful state, where the mind is completely still. There were not a single thought in my mind for about 40 minutes and the feeling of happiness was amazing. Maybe there is the answer, one can't reach blissful state by trying to reach it.

Yes, that's WILD. I never tried to WILD with my eyes open, though.

For me, WILD is easier than DILD. If you're a WILDer, you don't have to do reality checks and you don't have to write in your dream journal either. You have perfect recall when WILDing. Some people find WILD a more difficult method because they find it hard to concentrate, and they either fall asleep, or just lay there for hours without anything happening.

I suggest you to continue with this method, but you can also try other methods, like DILD, or DEILD (which is another form of WILD).

Are you writing in your dream journal? You should write down every detail you remember. I think somebody more experienced should answer this.

Oh, I wasn't clear enough. I just try to keep my eyes open as long as I can, but I let them close, when I'm so tired I just can't keep my eyes open. Just another way to take some of that consciousness with me to the dream world.

Yes, I have dream journals. Earliest is from 2002. I didn't even remebered they went that far, but I do remember those dreams even without the journal. It's because I met my great-great-(great?)-grandmother from the 18th Century. Before I met her, I was having magical duel with spells against a witch. Then my foremother appeared and gave me some strong magic, which I used to defeat the witch. That was cool, even though it was non-lucid.

      Thanks yellowlight!

Tried a mixture of WILD and MILD (is it only mildly wild then? ). The WILD part didn't work as it did previous nights. Not walls of light, untill I was actually sleeping. It was morning hours, I had woke up couple of times and checked (and re-checked) the time.

Got back to sleep without trying anything, when I saw this light again (it seems to be turning to my DS!?!). That triggered me to do RC and while I was counting my third finger I became semi-lucid or maybe I was fully lucid, but again I was just so excited I understood to check the situation, that the lucidity was wasted on my excitement. It sort of faded away.

Remember having at least four non-lucid dreams after that, most likely more and during one of them I kept wondering how I'll ever remember all these details of the dream. I guess that was the reason forgot so much, cause I was worried about forgetting.

Well, it's time to have some dreams.

Yellowlight, I've been curious. Do you follow your own twist to the WILD technique? Or do you follow the other ones step by step, religously? Just curious.

Also, do you use SP too? I know typically to WILD you do, but I've heard it's not COMPLETELY necessary. You can PM me if you wish.
