Lightbulb How close was this to lucidity? (interesting experience)

I tried to WILD last night and had an interesting experience. I didn't sleep first but I got into bed at about 12:45. Counting my breaths, I focused on allowing my body to go to sleep while keeping my mind awake.

After about 75 breaths, I felt extreme heaviness and pressure on my entire body. Then I felt vibrations that were fairly intense and I "saw" a figure. He told me, "Relax a little while longer and you can become like me for a time."

I know I wasn't asleep yet because I could still feel my body and my bed and everything else. A few minutes later I could see his face again. For some reason I want to say his name was David. Then I felt more vibrations and he became a little clearer. But it was like I couldn't completely transition.

Next I realized my eyes were open but I didn't remember opening them. I thought it may be a false awakening so I laid still a while with my eyes closed. Nothing else happened so I did some RC's and rolled over and went to sleep.

Sounds to me like the reason you didn't succeed was that you didn't sleep before your attempt. As you probably know, your REM cycles (when most dreaming happens) get much closer together as you sleep longer. Try it again but sleep for at least 4 hours before you do it. If you had done exactly what you did, I bet you would have ended up in a dream. However, staying awake is another story. Good luck and yes, interesting story!

EDIT: The way you knew his name was David was cool. Almost like he was a DC. haha.

yeah, i'm gonna try sleeping first. Thanks for the reply though. I also forgot to mention that during the most intense part I heard a loud ticking noise every few seconds. HI?
