too lazy to get up for wbtb

hey havent posted in quite a while but i have a problem so i figured id ask

ive been trying to wild again lately so of course i have to use wbtb and stay up for a little while before hand to let my mind focus a little

problem is im too much of a lazy peice of shit to get up for wbtb

no matter how determined i am (and i am quite a stubborn person) i can not force myself to stay awake for even a few minutes.

i always just half awake turn my alarm off and go immediately to sleep

does anybody have any ideas how i can force myself to stay awake, ive been trying to set up little rigs that make me have to work to turn my alarm off but they dont help because theyre so simplistic i just angrilly smack em and go back to sleep

You just have to train yourself, I also often turn of my alarm in sleep, but there are many ways to prevent this such as moving the alarm further from you or sleeping a little longer.

OT: I think you situation sounds good for DIELD-attempts, where falling back asleep fast is a good thing (I see you have succeed a DIELD already though). Using a timer to wake you up at different intervals could be something for you to try. Just search for the "timer method" on here.

I tell people like you and me to take an alarm and place it near someone else's room in your house. For example, a parent or an older sibling. Set that alarm to go off at 5 am and piss them off. Set YOUR alarm for 4:50. When you wake up, make sure to remember that you have this extra alarm set and that if you don't turn it off you'll have to answer questions about why it's set up, and deal with their anger. That's a good motivator.

Or, leave your alarm clock across the room so that you have to get out of bed.

Or, if you take any sort of medication, take it during your WBTBs to motivate you to get out of bed. Or your laundry for the next day (procrastination AND laziness, woot)

Or, if you have computer speakers and an ipod, hook an ipod (with alarm set) to your speakers and set this on the highest volume to some sort of crazy song that starts off loud and fast. Set another alarm 5-10 minutes before the ipod so that you're motivated to get up and turn off the ipod.

      Things like that

LOL -- that is a REALLY good idea! I used to put my alarm clock on dresser, across the room, so I wouldn't hit snooze, go back to sleep, and be late for work. I never thought how this might help for LDing. That way, you'll know you HAVE to get out of bed to turn off that alarm or you're just going to get snapped out of sleep again.

It is funny, though, how no matter how important something (work, LDing, etc) is to us in waking life, getting a couple of extra minutes of sleep seems MUCH MORE important when we're just waking up.

the best thing to do is set up an alarm on your ipod home or something, with full volume and play the song cannibal by static-x.. you will get it up...trust me hehehehe

If you've got a fan in your room (ceiling fan), tape your alarm mechanism to the top of one of the blades (provided it's small enough, like a watch or something). You'll have to stand up, turn the fan off, etc, and by that time you'll be primed to stay up. I pranked someone in this manner a while ago: I put this tiny watch at the end of the blade set for 3:30 and set the fan power to maximum. hehe

I feel your pain dude. I'm a lazy piece of shit too and only rarely manage to drag my fat carcass out of bed for a wbtb. And when I do I usually only muster up the energy for one half-assed reality check.

All I can say is, you have to remind yourself when you wake up how cool it is to have a lucid dream and hopefully that will motivate you.

      Good luck
