I have to say that there is a surprising lack of documentation on afternoon LDs. I've been focusing on trying to have an LD in the afternoon for the past week and a half or so. Yesterday, it got the point where I was seeing really really vivid HI, but like a fool I tried to control it and it slowly deteriorated.

At any rate, my attempts are always incredibly relaxing, even when I fail, I feel like I just woke up after 9 hours of sleep and the bed is incredibly comfortable, so I think I'm on the right track. That, and this is good practice for trying to WILD in the middle of the night too, since success in the afternoon will mean I won't get overly excited in the night.

Oh yea, I think I know what you guys are talking about. I've used it in much the same manner, but the second I let up, I seem to start gaining outside awareness again and ruin my attempt. It seems like its almost like pseudo SP, but I could be wrong.

on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye."

When your laying down in bed, clear your head of thoughts, relax and take some deep breaths and lay with a clear mind for a moment. Then focus(place your awareness) very intently on a part of your body( I.E. arm, leg, etc.). With a clear head and good amount of concentration and whatever your awareness/attention is on will vibrate very subtly.

      ----------------------------------------------

As for WILDing, I also noticed that to WILD it is really important to relax..it's key. Most of us breathe shallow rather than Diaphragmatic breathing. Diaphragmatic breathing is much healthier. It allows you to take in more air and to breathe it in more deeply, causing stress reduction and anxiety relief. Breathe from the stomach and lay on your back when you attempt to WILD, sleep paralysis will occur much faster. When you lay on your stomach you can't fully do Diaphragmatic breathing.

Fattoxthegreat, again, can you tell me exactly what happens when you flex that muscle in your brain. Does it feel really good?

Have ever smoked cannabis and had sexual intercourse, the heightened pleasure you feel is supposedly the same energy that comes from the "head muscle". In no way am I condoning the use of drugs by the way mods.

Here is a claim of that head muscle being a connection to some "divine" source. I know this sounds really new agey , but just bare with it for a sec. Go to this passage and control+f ( find ) the phrase "For the first time, I felt a muscle within my brain flexing, and sending out energy on the same frequency level as the pleasure I was experiencing." http://www.geocities.com/brother_ali/psychic-head

Well, Hard Wired, when I flex this muscle (if that truly is what it is) as I am laying in bed, the first sensation that befalls me is the very similar feeling to free fall, or maybe the end of hang time, not sure. But it definitely feels like, if it were physically possible, that my soul is about to fall out of my body and right through the bed (I know that sounds pretty stupid...) Then I get that tingley spinal thing (much akin to an orgasm, I suppose) and then if I really try and hold it, my other bodily muscles begin to twitch, legs, arm, abdominal, and while this is going on, my eyes twitch rapidly until I stop. While I am doing this, and for a varying amount of time afterwards, I experience hypnogogia and whatnot.

Now that I have explained this in great detail, I am almost insanely paranoid that you are some government official and I have just discovered a program flaw in the matrix...

I assure you I'm not a government agent. I would never work for the government. I had to make sure you were getting the same basic effects I was getting from flexing "the muscle", and make sure I'm not just insane lol.

If you looked at that passage, you might have found it interesting. I emailed the guy who wrote it. Every time you flex the "muscle in the head" your accessing the divine energy. If you read his story, his sounds way more intense than both of ours. He could transfer this energy to a partner, even transfer it to people at a distance.

He also can also flex the muscle in the head, but he doesn't have any chill or any kind of effect at all unless he smokes cannabis. When he smokes cannabis he gets the access to that energy. Most likely the reason why he doesn't get an effect until he smokes cannabis is because THC causes a 4,000% increase in melatonin in 2 hours. (Lissoni, P., Resentini, M., and Fraschini, F. "Effects of Tetrahydrocannabinol on Melatonin Secretion in Man." Hormone and Metabolic Research 1986; 77-78.)

By the way, In no way am i condoning the use of cannabis. This is just a quick fact.

Hmm, fattoxthegreat, your almost there. You said when you lay down and flex your pineal gland you experience hypnagogic imagery. How are you having trouble WILDing then? All you have to do when you reach HI, stay aware of the the images, and just pull yourself into the dream. Now when I experienced HI, my eyes had started twitching ( it was my first HI experience at the time ) and I think that's what woke me back up. You have to really be relaxed, including your eyes, and stay relaxed when HI sets in. Just kind of watch them passively. I know my eyes twitched like hell the first time I seen HI, i was too excited lol.

I am having trouble WILDing because I don't know the difference between the technical DV terms like HI or HH and the shit I see. I don't know if there's a difference or not but I never see FULLY formed things like a human or a spacecraft or anything, just blobs of Technicolor random. Also, I'd like to know if this gland is some secret key I possess that allows me to achieve a WILD much easier than others, because that's what you make it sound like...
And to tell you the truth, since I a have never experienced SP, I am afraid of what lies before me. Does this gland thing make SP any less scary?

Yes you should be able to WILD much easier if you can keep the pineal gland flexed as you fall asleep and let the energy flow, but you need to be focused on keeping it open and staying relaxed, well that's how It works for me anyway. But that falling sensation you get sounds a lot like the onset of sleep paralysis.

Sleep paralysis isn't scary man. It's actually euphoric. I feel my body get lighter, and a subtle electric wave pass through my body when I experience SP.
      ----

Ok, i just looked up what you were experiencing. It's called "hypnagogic myoclonic twitch", or hypnic jerk. Just like I thought, yes that jerk is your body checking to see if your mind is asleep. Often accompanied by a falling sensation, it is commonly caused by irregular sleep schedules.

Refer to Jeff's tutorial "Mind Awake/ Body Asleep". http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ke+body+asleep

You have to relax when you see this hypnagogia imagery, that's the blobs of technicolor your seeing. Relax(especially the eyes, twitching of the eyes caused HI to break for me), breathe deeply, lay still, and soon you will be in a dream. The key is to relax. Next time you try this, do Diaphragmatic breathing( breathing deeply ), it causes your body to relax more thereby speeding the process up.

The most interesting thing about all of this is that you can induce sleep paralysis( excrete a good amount of DMT ) through flexing the pineal gland.

As for having the ability to flex the muscle that other people don't have, well I do see it as a slight advantage. But the pineal gland flexes itself though relaxation and focused visualization.
