      Can't WILD

Well, i just finished my twelfth WILD attempt, it failed. i would like to know exactly how YOUR last WILD was. not the dream what happened after you closed your eyes and lay there. I've already lain there for hours at a time with nothing really happening. I would like to know what happens to other people while the WILD.

I'm on three successes now. I estimate I did 90 attempts before my first success. Here are the tips (paraphrased) that really shifted the way I think about WILD and helped push me in the right direction.

Billybob: It's easy to overcomplicate WILDing, but you can actually define WILDing simply: You're just going to sleep normally while keeping your mind slightly awake.

Jeff777: A lot of people say things like, "I tried to WILD for three hours in the night then just gave up and went to sleep". NB: GOING TO SLEEP is exactly what you should be trying to do when you WILD.

Jeff777: There is a "moving train" approach: you don't lie down in bed and start WILDing. Instead you wait until you are already well on the way to falling asleep. Then you can start using an affirmation such as, "I stay consciously aware as my body falls asleep."

There is also the "sentinel" approach. Here, you just go to sleep but you trust your prospective memory to wake you up slightly when you get a sign you're entering a dream.

With me, the sign is "spinning" - but it's more like the feeling you get when you go to bed very drunk, close your eyes and feel like you're on a rollercoaster.

I use an affirmation, "I'll realise when I'm spinning, go with the spinning, then step out of my body."
