      Wild Progress thread

      Hello everyone,
Since a lot of people try to WILD, I thought a thread where everyone can share their experience, whether successful or not will help any new individuals and help us to improve our techniques by reading about what others are doing. I'll start first:
      Date: March 3, 2010
When I went to bed, I was somewhat tired. As I lay there, I started to feel numb. As time passed, I saw myself enter some music office in a building which is overlooking some street. At that time, I couldn't feel the presence of my hands. I also heard some beeping sound and felt my chest get colder with every breath I took. As more time passed, I tried to go further, but, I could only go so far before I felt it fade away. Based on what I experienced, I would say I was at the start of SP with the sounds and images, however, I didn't reach it yet.

Your thoughts, comments, WILD experiences, etc....

      Talking Great idea!

This is a great idea for a thread.

I'm always trying to WILD, but always have difficulty.

      Date: 03/03/10
      Unsuccessful

Last night I tried, I felt a tingling feeling progess up from my toes and fingers to my entire body. I figure it was just my limbs falling asleep. I would occasionally drift off by accident beacuse I was so tired, but a loud bang would suddenly wake me up each time. I lay there for an hour and a half and finally gave up. A few times I felt like I was spinning.

This happens everytime to me, and then, nothing...

      Trying again tonight...

I would try WILDing after 4-6hr of sleep instead of right when you go to bed assuming that's what you are doing, because, unless you have been deprived of sleep, you're unlikely to enter REM sleep thuis no SP

Dextro, Do you have a specific question? Read some tutorial and try out first.

I'm trying the "short temporary alarm, then lay still and wait"-method. I have tried it like 4 times but no success yet. Once I felt too scared, since I just woke up from a nightmare. The other time I was too alert and the room was too bright. The other two times I have actually tried, but I got too excited as my body was numbing away, and then I gave up as I realized I was getting too alert. I figured i'd get some sleep instead.

Any tips on not becoming frikking excited? I'm about to enter another f*cking world and I've no idea what's waiting there, of course I'm excited... =p
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

It's okay to be a little excited, just take some deep breaths and don't let it affect you. If you snap out of the dream the first time (or few times) don't be shocked. You have to learn to stabilize; that will help a lot. My last LD I almost woke up again--could hear my dog breathing--and got back in through stabilization and went on to go see my DUOMODOME!! (hahaha a little piece of architecture I designed specifically for this purpose)

As LouieO mentioned, just take a deep breath and relax. Worst case scenario it doesn't work. Best case you get some vibrations and you are on your way. I'm somewhat similar to you. I am excited, a bit nervous but nevertheless very excited to experience SP and have my second LD. What I would do is also focus on another technique such as DILDs. Why you ask? Incase your WILD doesn't work(you fall back asleep, give up, etc....), then you have another method to rely on, however, make sure to give the technique enough practice. Good luck

Oh, I do. I think I have about 4 or 5 hours and then my alarm goes off at around 2/3am depending on the day. I do it every night. Sometimes I turn my alarm off and then wake up in the morning not even remembering turning it off.

In case others have come to this topic and missed it, we're talking about the 90 Days WILD Project, which can be found here. If you're interested, you may join in the project at any time.
How could you? I know, I agree about where it's placed, I was just trying to find a way to justify keeping this thread open and not splitting up the forum

You're not the only one I do that as well. I would go to sleep and set the alarm to wake me up around 5hr later. What happens is I usually wake up, put it off, remember what I wanted to do and go back to sleep. Last night, I went a step further by doing some stretches then said "who cares, I need my sleep and went back to sleep automatically", lol.

There was one week week where i had several wilds which was about a month ago, i haven't had a wild yet this month because i didn't try one yet, but i've had more wilds this year than in any other year. The wilds i had this year happend when i was really tired, last year the main thing i did was to stay still which as you know is hard to do, i'd rather do a wild when i'm tired, one of my recent wilds happend when i stayed up the whole night which isn't good for people who have to go to work or school or something.

hmm, didn't notice that. Either way, I find a WILD thread to be more appropriate in the WILD place in comparison to research, but, that's my opinion

Sorry to be a bubble-bursting buttmunch, but yeah, it's already out there....

I saw that today that it was in the Research section, and thought for a moment about it, and I think it's actually in a good place; the thread, while it does pertain directly to WILDing, will in the end be a thing of research for others, to see other peoples' logs of their efforts collected in an aggregate thread of WILDing experiences, to show the diversity of experiences, and the similarities between them. Much the same as what you asked for here.

Once everyone from the first wave of the project finishes, including the original poster, the thread will be a place to reflect on what happened and what can be done in the future, so it could really fit in either the WILDing section or into the Research section. I like it where it is, because it (to me) emphasizes how it's not just another thing about WILDing, it's a research project being conducted by all of us, as experimenters of our own WILDing experience.

      Ahh..

I have only tried it a few times and have been unsuccessful..the way i discovered was, i tried to find a way to make dreams more vivid and i stumbled upon this, then after having no luck i experienced something crazy. i would normally go to bed around 10:45, then i would wake up around 7:00 and play hookie from school, then i would go back to bed about 7:35 en have loud ringing in my ears and a feeling of floating out of my body, but when i try to have that feeling, i am unsuccessful. (what am i doing wrong?? what are some major tips that would help me???)
